Mike , Andrew aka "SA227" drives one off these out off Blenheim , he sent me a batch off photo's , Internal and external which be of help building a VC in regard to get it as honest as possible... I'm sure Andrew would be most pleased to pass them on to Tom and maybe we can get further photos in the case info is needed.

Ian, Bernie's VC is very nice...the main complaint about Mike Stone's F27 was that it sat too near the ground, and Bernie said he had raised the fuse "more than half a foot", which is what I wanted to check.
The whole thing is still beta, but Tom G says he will include in the CalClassic downloads when it is sorted.
My default flight is a DH89 at Mt Cook; when I change the aircraft to Bernie's F27, and in spot view pan down to ground level, I can see two rails of the fence below the fuselage. I just want to know if I should be seeing more...but no need for any panic

Thankyou Lawrie - I wasn't aware of that option. Did the real ones have such a nose-down stance when on the ground? Your screenie puts me in mind of the BAC 1-11.

Have a look at my posting on ZK-NFA on the previous page.
You can see the slight nose-down stance in the Hokitika pic ( orange/red livery), and in the Auckland pic ( blue/green livery).

I think the cockpit windows look more like the real thing on the Miguel model .... just my 91/2 cents worth. Nice screen Snowman.

The sad ending of NAC's first brand-new Friendship,......... ZK-BXA .

9U-BHE , formerly ZK-BXA F27-100 C/N 10166, of New Zealand National Airways Corporation

This aircraft, and several other F27s have been stored at Dinard in France for some years.

Being cut-up for fire training ( you can see the rego (9U-BHE) on the tail-fillet)

Sadly, her cockpit roof cut open

Next in line for her final destruction at the hands of the scrappers ( centre aircraft)

This sad event took place at the end of 2009.

Arr just slight combat damage... back in WWII they flew back 300 miles in worst condition than that ... interesting to see the 20mm cannon hole in the propeller blade .

Final resting place of ZK-BXE

Fokker Friendship F27-100 C/N 10184 ZK-BXE Kahu

ZK-BXE arrived brand-new in New Zealand, at Paraparaumu Airport on 10th September 1961.

She had a couple of small highlights in her career with NAC...................

On 10th May 1962 she carried Dean Rusk (American Secretary of State) and NZ Prime Minister Keith Holyoake from Wellington to Ohakea.

On the 3rd of October 1963 she carried the Japanese Prime Minister, Hayato Ikeda, to Wellington for government talks with NZ Prime Minister Keith Holyoake.

May 1967, ZK-BXE was the first NAC aircraft rolled out in the new NATIONAL AIRWAYS livery.

On the 26th of January 1969, ZK-BXE paid the only visit ever made by a Friendship to NZWO Wairoa Airport, for a local airshow.

When finally retired by Air New Zealand, she was sold to Goa Way Airlines in India.
Seen here painted in Goa Way colours at Christchurch Airport in September 1994, before departing for India.

Once there, it was never used, as they have a rule there that no aircraft over 25 years old is allowed to be imported for passenger service.
It was placed into storage at Mumbai, and basically abandoned there for many years.
Registered as VT-ROY, and owned by the Airports Authority of India, she was eventually sold to the Indian Institute of Aircraft Engineering in a complete operational state.
She recieved a cleanup, and a full repaint, and is now used as an instructional airframe at the Delhi based institute.

Be interesting to see the engineering requirement .. both these types never operated in the NZ and both types, the F-50 strange , are they bringing the aircraft into the NZ on international or creating a domestic route?
