Comments

  • This runway was used as part of Grand Turk Auxilary Air Force Base. I remember going through here several times in the 1970s while traveling between Patrick AFB and Antigua. The Air Force used a C-118 to fly between the old tracking station sites, and Grand Turk was the lunch stop. The site had significant activity during the Mercury program, but wound down after that. The US closed its operation here in 1984.
