UR-CPN, (28997/3008), ATA Airlines / Khors Air, 737-500, Mehrabad Airport, Tehran, Iran, 14/3/17. This unusual coloured 737-500 is operated by Iranian ATA Airlines (not to be confused with the American ATA Airlines which folded in 2008). The livery is from its previous owner Aurora of Russia, Before that it was with Estonian Air, Czech Airlines and Maersk Air. It first flew in March 1998. ATA Airlines (of Iran) is a small Iranian airline based in Tabriz. It has 12 aircraft including two 737-500s leased from Khors Aircompany of Ukraine, hence the Ukrainian registration. Like many Iranian airlines it is eagerly awaiting a thaw in relations and lifting of sanctions with the West to enable it to buy modern western aircraft and an opening up of trade and tourism. |
