TURKS & CAICOS SUN - A High Court Judge in the Turks and Caicos Islands has imposed some serious and unusual restrictions on how the local media can report on a case involving two prominent lawyers.

On Monday June 9th, Sir James Bruce Robertson, a New Zealand Judge who was brought in specially to hear the case, ruled that the Turks and Caicos Islands media cannot even report the charges against 57-year-old Timothy Patrick O’Sullivan of the law firm Miller, Simons, O'Sullivan and 52-year-old Gordon William Kerr of the law firm Misick and Stanbrook.

According to the court order, the media can only print "the identity of the parties, the name of the judge and of counsel representing the parties and the date of any future hearings".

PM Christie at opening of Sunset Close Housing Subdivision‏ - Jun 8, 2014 - 3:29:16 PM

Nassau, Bahamas - Enclosed are Remarks by the Rt Hon. Perry G. Christie, M.P., Prime Minister & Minister of Finance Commonwealth of The Bahamas at the official opening of the Sunset Close Housing Subdivision:

I wish to congratulate the Honourable Minister of the Environment and Housing, my colleague, the Honourable Kendred Dorsett on making a wonderful start in the provision of affordable homes for the Bahamian people. It has been just a few weeks over two years that the minister was appointed and his impatience in wanting to start his housing programme was real and palpable. But we have had constraints, as you have heard from him, and the real factor was the provision of funding. I am proud that he has now rolled up his sleeves and put the first shovel in the ground, laid the first bricks, completed the first roof and indeed, we will hand out the first set of keys to eager home owners. ..
