New Zealand has a critical shortage of IT talent, yet immigration processes can make it difficult for people to come and work here. The red tape, ambiguous laws, and complicated employment regulations mean that without previous experience, the process can be a drawn-out, stressful affair. Fortunately, these are waters we have navigated before. Together with our licensed Immigration Advisors we have brought almost 100 skilled IT candidates into New Zealand, helping to strengthen our workforce and bring new life opportunities to hardworking individuals. Need help with immigration? Let us help https://lnkd.in/dDry6jJt #immigration #immigrationsupport #helpful #guidance #40foot

I’m so glad to see the end of 2023, and I’m not ashamed to say it loud! Those who know me understand that I suffer from the disease of optimism and it’s very hard to admit (accept) that things have been tough. This year we have been in the red for the first time in our business history in some of the toughest trading conditions we have ever experienced. But things are looking up and the activity and energy around attracting great talent has spiked in the last month! I also spent a lot of time in hospital receiving chemotherapy or blood transfusions and the treatment has taken a huge toll on my body. BUT I’m heading into the holiday season officially “Cancer Free”! Slowly coming back from this experience and keen to bring my fresh perspective and energy into the business in the new year. Huge gratitude to some special people who have kept moving forward despite the challenging environment this year - thank you for everything you have contributed to 40 Foot during 2023! I have been overwhelmed with the support and encouragement from everyone as I journey through Stage 3 Breast Cancer. I’m at the halfway point of my chemotherapy and have surgery scheduled for later this year. It’s not what I would normally share on LinkedIn but the truth is, I need the support and positivity of everyone to help me through this. By sharing this journey, it has enabled me to broaden my world as myself and my two boys have felt the love of our whole community. I’ve received meals, handmade beanies, gifts, flowers, and practical help. Medical options for Breast Cancer in New Zealand are significantly behind the rest of the western world, so I am fundraising to cover my treatment. I still have a way to go, and any small amount is gratefully and humbly appreciated. All donations are going towards treatment costs for unfunded immunotherapy drugs (Trastuzumab and Pertuzumab), and supporting treatment such as IV infusion therapy to get me through this aggressive chemotherapy. The link to my givealittle page is below. Thank you for sharing my journey with me! https://lnkd.in/gz5ycAsp

We have never experienced such a demand for a solution before, even in an uncertain market pre-election. Grab a coffee or chat with Michael Foot to get our price list and plan your offshore development.
Engaging offshore development talent for your New Zealand-based development project can provide numerous advantages. These include the ability to enjoy significant cost efficiencies, and a dedicated workforce that work exclusively for you. Here are five more benefits for you to consider: 1. Expertise on demand. The search is complete. By using offshore developers, you get access to field-leading talent that’s not locally available, and quickly. 2. Flexibility and scalability. You can build a development team as you want it – no lock-in contracts, scaling up or down as your project requires. This solution is ideal for fluctuating workloads. 3. Access to emerging technologies. Offshore developers have greater exposure to the latest technological trends and global practices ensuring forward-thinking solutions. 4. Accelerated timelines. Offshore teams can operate across different time zones, that enable round-the-clock development cycles to hasten a project’s completion. 5. Improved resource allocation. By using an offshore team you can ensure the right people are in the right roles, and improve productivity and efficiency. I was hesitant to share my sad news as it’s already been a tough year for revenue and I didn’t want to concern our clients… but the word is out so I would like to share with my LinkedIn family that I have been diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer and I’m starting chemotherapy next week. As a single mother of two wonderful boys I am leaning heavily on my village at this time and that includes the incredible team at 40 Foot and Tech People. Lots of people have asked how they can support, and I would encourage my LinkedIn family to please don’t shy away from using your favourite IT recruitment company during this time! I have the most experienced leadership team in the business who have rallied behind me and have everything in hand. This includes Jarrod Ross who is a 16 year IT recruitment veteran and Natalie Parr who is arguably the most experienced talent-finder in the business. Please don’t struggle through with ads up online hoping to attract a perfect applicant. The current talent market needs targeted head-hunting for roles and we can also bring candidates in from overseas on your behalf as we are fully accredited. I’ve been completely blown away with the support we have received already and our clients are a top priority at this time.

Not many moments in life are harder than losing a family pet. Today we said goodbye to our German Shepherd, Axel, with lots of cuddles and tears. Why share this on LinkedIn? Because it’s a moment of humanity and heartbreak and it brings more facets of life into focus. When we move through our professional lives it always helps me to realise that I’m dealing with real people: who experience love and loss and joy and pain. He was a protector and an incredible family pet. Have you ever lost a furry family member?

Tonight we did something a little bit special as a team… we went to Sid at The French Cafe and experienced an exhibition of craftsmanship and skill. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect as a team and experience the expertise of people who are at their peak. Thank you to Tommy and Sid and the whole team at The French Cafe for having us.
