Man Utd announce Morocco’s Omar Berrada as new CEO

Premier League club Manchester United have confirmed the appointment of Morocco’s Omar Berrada from Manchester City as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Berrada goes to Old Trafford with a wealth of experience having served as Chief Football Operations Officer for City Football Group and he was previously a senior football executive at Barcelona.

He becomes the first major change by Man Utd’s new minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe as he looks to reposition the club.

A statement by Manchester United read: “It is our stated ambition to re-establish Manchester United as a title-winning club. We are pleased that Omar will be joining us to help achieve that goal, so that, once again, United fans can see, in the words of Sir Matt Busby, the red flag flying high at the summit of English, European and world football.

“Omar’s start date will be confirmed in due course; in the meantime, Patrick Stewart will continue as interim CEO.”

Berrada, born in France to Moroccan parents, is not the only Moroccan at Old Trafford as he will be joining his compatriot Sofyan Amrabat at the club.

United currently lie seventh in the Premier League table with 32 points from 21 matches.
