TOKYO -- A collision at Tokyo's busy Haneda Airport on Tuesday evening killed five of the six crew aboard a Japan Coast Guard craft and injured 15 people on a packed Japan Airlines jumbo jet.

Air traffic safety investigators are probing the cause of the deadly collision, with a focus on communications between flight crew and air traffic control. Police have also launched a criminal investigation. Crash investigations can take months or even years, but experts say it is essential that authorities quickly restore public confidence in one of the world's busiest airports.
