From the pilot's job to the flight attendants, there are so many people who work behind the scenes to make sure everything goes smoothly when you are traveling.
Not only the people flying the plane but also the people who organize everything.
When you check luggage for a flight, you basically say goodby to your items until you land and wait for the carousel at the airport baggage claim.
So many people wonder, where does your luggage go when you are flying on an airplane?
One thing many people already know is that the luggage is usually stored underneath the plane.
But, where exactly does it go and how is it put there? How does it get from the airport to the plane, and back to the airport, too?
TikTok user djsugue works for a Canadian airport and has been sharing dozens of videos online about what it means to be a baggage handler.
He has been sharing several videos of loading/unloading planes and the entire process of storing luggage.
Luggage goes in and out of the "belly" of the plane underneath.
To do so, the baggage handlers use a device that allows the luggage to roll into the plane and also back out of the plane when they are unloading.
In some of his videos, djsugue reveals that some flights have over 100 bags in the belly.
And, to store them all is like a game of Tetris. You have to be precise about how you store them and put them so they can all fit.
As it turns out, the way your bag is checked decides what "cart" it is in to be taken to the plane.
If you have a later check-in, your cart is the last cart, and that means your bag goes in last. But, that means it also comes out first.
There are so many moving pieces that get your bags to and from the airplane.
There are tons of moving pieces, like carts that take them to a conveyor that then brings them to another truck to bring them back.
Some people were shocked to see this process as many thought that there was an underground system that took bags from the airplane to the airport and it was something done pretty easily.
Turns out, it's not that simple. There are several different pieces that make it possible to get them to the airport.
One TikTok user asked djsugue to showcase where the airline puts dog crates because they were planning to travel with their own dog but they were a little nervous because they had never seen where dog crates are stored on planes.
djsugue showcased that dogs go separate from the luggage, so they cannot be banged around by bags.
They are also fastened in rather tightly with bungee chords that strap down to the plane, so the crate does not slide.
