Denmark's Export Credit Agency (EKF) is getting a new chief executive. After serving for around two years on the job, Kirstine Damkjær is resigning as EKF's CEO, effective immediately, EKF informs in a brief statement.

"The board of directors has today agreed with Kirstine Damkjær that she will step down as CEO of EKF Danmarks Eksportkredit. Kirstine Damkjær will return to her extensive experience in international financing and sustainability," the agency writes in the media release, adding:

"The board of directors would like to thank Kirstine Damkjær for her efforts during her time at EKF."

EKF declines to elaborate on the sudden resignation, and Damkjær has not yet responded to EnergyWatch's request for comment.

Vice CEO Peder Lundquist is now appointed as interim CEO.

On Feb. 1, 2019, Damkjær replaced Anette Eberhard, who had led the agency for the 11 preceding years, and joined EKF after working for 18 years abroad, for instance, in several leading positions in the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) as chief investment officer and industry head of equity.

EKF is one of the world's leading credit institutions and financiers of, not least, wind farms. Since 1998, the state-owned company has participated in guaranteeing credit for more than 100 projects worth a combined sum in excess of DKK 100bn (EUR 13.45bn).
