The US destroyed a Wagner used Il-18 aircraft in Libya

According an article published by The Washington Post the United States attacked a Wagner logistics aircraft in Libya. While the article does not mention any more details highly likely the involved aircraft is Ilyushin Il-18TD TL-KBR. It was burned to ground at Al-Khadim Air Base in Libya on the night of 27 Jan 2023.

Washington Post obtained the documentes leaked in Discord by Jack Teixeira, a young member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard. The article says:

The only direct military strike mentioned in the files refers to “a successful unattributed attack in Libya” that “destroyed a Wagner logistics aircraft.” The document provides no further detail about the operation or why that single plane — part of a far larger Wagner fleet — was targeted.

How the attack was done is not clear. One of the possibilities is a US drone fired a missle at the aircraft.

Twitter EekadFacts was first to report on the burned down IL-18 at Al-Khadim and published a satellite photo showing the remains of the aircraft.

Twitter user Gerjon_ traced this aircraft in Al Jufrah Air Base (Libya) and Central African Republic (Bangui M’Poko Airport).

The United Nations mentioned this aircraft in a document with id S/2022/427

In this Tweet photos are posted showing men in military uniforms leaving the aircraft in Bangui, CAR
