Aspiring Quebec Pilots are sad ! Why the Canadian Regional Les Cèdres Airport (CSS3) is closing on 22nd May 22 ?

A Setback for aspiring Pilots of Montréal and Canada !

Regional Les Cèdres Airport (CSS3) is getting closed by May 22, 2022 for the Real Estate aspirations of approx. $150 million . The owners of the Airport - the Hoy family has roped in a real estate broker to engage an industrial developer to develop the land of the airport for real estate transactions.

Student pilots , staff and members of the flight school - "Laurentide Aviation" , which started in the year 1946  will be at the receiving end , as School's lease contract ends on the same date , which will hinder any Legal dispute arising due to the closure.

Canada's Oldest Flying school - Laurentide Aviation's Lease contract with owner Les Encans Laurentide ends on 22nd May of this year and the Airport closure is set for May 22nd , 2022 at 19:59 pm.

Not for the first time regional Airports are getting a snub - this is the second closure for the greater Montreal area after the Mascouche Airport in 2016.

Apparently 'Transport Canada' and Mayor of the municipality won't be able to intervene, owing to the decision of the Airport Owner and a Favourable action from them is not available till date.

Aspiring Pilots in the region and Canada are definitely devastated as they see one of the oldest gateway to  Aviation is being shut , and it is a fact that, the airport has produced a lot of commercial airline pilots who are part of the Air Canada now.
