HISTORY
Nottingham [ Tollerton ] Airport was opened for civilian aviation in 1930. During the second world war it was renamed RAF TOLLERTON. This acted as a Relief landing ground for the polish training school based at RAF Newton for the Polish Air Force.
It was also host to "Field Aircraft Services", which repaired and service battle damage heavy aircraft, and later dismantled them.
After the war the airfield returned back to civilian life. Commercial flight by Blue Line airways operated from there for a short time until 1949.
This could had been the new Eastmidland Airport. The newly Derby Airways ( Later became British Midland Airways ) operated out of Derby Municipal Airport at Burnaston. They later moved to the to RAF Castle Donington in 1964 which by now became Eastmidland Airport and had its own customs office. This location is on the boarders of Derby, Leicester and Nottingham, and served these citys well. Tollerton remained an airport for genaral aviation till this day
Now called Nottingham City Airport. (Not to be confuse with Eastmidland Airport.) Sits just 5 miles south east of nottingham, UK.
