F&B SIPSMITH EXPERIENCES Caesars UK has teamed up with Sipsmith microdistillery to offer customers a new line in taste and entertainment. The plan is for the quirky niche brand to sponsor a series of cocktail masterclasses, teaching customers to make the perfect mixed drinks with Sipsmith gin and vodka. In 2009 Sipsmith became the first copper-pot distillery to open in London in almost two centuries. DISCOVERING THE SECRETS OF BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Members of our F&B team headed down to rural Hampshire for a fascinating brand immersion day at the home of Bombay Sapphire gin, a leading name in the portfolio of our new spirits supplier Bacardi. Behind the doors of the historic Laverstoke Mill distillery, they discovered the secrets, skill and botanicals that have made Bombay Sapphire a world leader. Naturally enough, they got up close and personal with the gin as well as the process, thanks to a delicious tasting session to round off the day. “A day like this gives our team members real insight into the brands we work with,” explained F&B Director Rob Wear. “They can take that knowledge back to their venues which helps all of us deliver even better customer service. “We switched suppliers from Diageo because Bacardi has some truly exciting premium brands, such as Jack Daniel’s and Grey Goose. It’s a real win for our customers as Bacardi is also very proactive about working with us to deliver stand-out experiential events.” RAISING A GLASS TO COINTREAU We marked 170 years of the world’s favourite orange liqueur with a series of summer pop-up Cointreau Margarita bars in venues across the country. After last year’s annual staff barbecue in the rain, Southend team members had everything crossed that an earlier date would guarantee fine weather for the fun day out. But when forecasters predicted a downpour on the day, they decided to take no chances and switched the event to an afternoon in the pub. Surprise, surprise… the sun shone all day! Team Rendezvous ended up basking in 23 degrees in the Slug and Lettuce beer garden, sipping cocktails and relying on the pub grub of burgers, chicken wings and nachos. p WINNING A MILLION Building on the success of last year’s Win A Million promotion, Southend gave three lucky customers the chance to win a massive £10,000 in Reward Credits.
