Endless frustration

New subscription but having a very frustrating time learning how to use Navigraph… cannot get a single flight plan to work without broken dotted lines in the arrivals section.

I think I am so used to the simple intuitive logic of Little Nav Map where everything joins and connects so effortlessly where in Navigraph I get nothing but broken spaghetti.

I thought Navigraph was meant to make things simpler. But without ATC to vector you in how on earth are you meant to make his work?å

Hello, thanks for reaching out.
A few things to note. Have you used SimBrief? This is a great feature when connected to your account as it will automatically import into Navigraph app for you.
That said let’s plan a flight from DFW-PVR using this route: (off of SimBrief)
JPOOL5 SAT DCT PNG UJ31 MOV UT1 KEDMA KEDMA1A
Type in both departure and arrival into the create flight and select CREATE

This shows a direct route.
Next select Type Route into the top tool bar.

Copy and paste the route into the route generator like this:
image
Ensure that your departure airport and arrival airports act as bookends.
(DEP airport) (Route)( ARR Airport)
Select save, you can see we have an red alert here:

image
Basically saying that it does not recognize the arrival. To get rid of that rascal…

  1. Select Arrivals
  2. Select the appropriate arrival in this case KEDM1A
  3. Delete the old one (not depicted here as I already deleted it)
You should be good if it goes green.
Now we have a clean route!
    Hope all goes well

So… I create this route… EGLL/27R MAXI1F MAXIT Y803 MID UL612 BOGNA HARDY UM605 BIBAX BIBA9D LFPG/I08L.BAN6E

Import it into SimTYoolKitPro… works perfect. Import the exact same plan into Navigraph and get this… it has the same path and data but seems to gut it visually… Both apps have current Airac.

Little Nav Map also has no issue with this route…

I don’t have any issues…Seems a bit odd. I will escalate this for you.

Hi…,

Similar to Jason,

I can load EGLL/27R MAXI1F MAXIT Y803 MID UL612 BOGNA DCT HARDY UM605 BIBAX BIBA9D LFPG/BANOX.I08L into Navigraph Charts on Mac and into https://charts.navigraph.com in Safari on Mac.

Please try both.

I suggest you uninstall Charts for Mac, download and install latest Charts for MacOS

Cheers
Ian

Thanks for the reply Ian…

But I already downloaded and have been using the exact version as the link you provided.

… I understand what you are saying and I’m able to do the same thing no issues.

But the problem comes when I try to add the approach and arrival. I see you have not added one either.

When I try I get dotted line hell and fragments all over the place.

Seems to be some kind of display issue in the app on my Mac where it’s leaving fragments of previously selected or viewed approaches and departures etc all over the place despite me having either deleted them or closed down the ‘eye’ view option.

Maybe it’s a Mac issue as my brother is doing the same flight plans as me, step for step on his version but he’s using Windows and he doesn’t have any of these issues.

Just to remove all doubt I downloaded a fresh copy as you suggested and created a random flight plan with a departure and an approach.

Looks good on the surface… until I try to complete the plan with an arrival and approach.

If I zoom in I begin to see strange anomalies. On the departure I have a dotted lines under a solid lines…

If you check my account you will see that I subscribed to Navigraph maybe 2 years ago.

But I cancelled it very shortly after because I had these exact same problems back then.

No matter what I did I just couldn’t create a solid and complete flight plan with it.

As I can’t do the same now now I’ve no choice but to downgrade my account just for the airac data alone and try to use Little Nav Map instead…

But that’s another whole bag of games because FMS data manager can’t update that correctly either. It downloads and installs the airac data into the wrong folder… Sigh…

If I’m not able to update and use even LNM there’s not much point in any of it.

PS: I have been chatting regularly with Alex the developer of LNM for going on 2 years and he pointed out FMS managers inability to update LNM correctly and suggested I bring it to your attention.

Here is a perfect example of what happens when I try to add an approach and close-up those dotted lines…

A simple egll to lfpg.

I clicked the Eye show all the approaches, I choose one and add it to the route… Looks good.

I then close all of the other options so I should just see my flight plan.

But as soon as I do that practically the entire route vanishes!!

Screen shots:

All that was in the browser the way… not the app.

This seems to be an issue on your machine as yours is the only report. It doesn’t do it on my iMac nor Jason’s. I was able to complete the dotted beige line by selecting ILS 08L MOPAR approach:

Do you get this on other flight plans? If so please make a simple flight with different airports where this occurs and post the actual flight plan here as well as screenshots, and we can try it.

Do you have any non standard hardware or software on your Mac?

What version of Mac OS?

Cheers
Ian
