Innsbruck Airport / Kranebitten Airport
(IATA: INN, ICAO: LOWI)

General Info: LOWI (INN) or commonly Innsbruck is an Airport in the Austrian Alps. It can service up to 11 S and M aircraft in-game. Click / Tap Here to see Innsbruck Airport in Google Maps.

Airport Overview:

In-game there is only 1 runway and 1 taxiway. While in real life there are 2 Grass Strips on the other side of the runway. RWY 26 is operational. There is a total of 10 Commercial Stands and 1 Cargo stand.

This is a focused aerial view of the airport. In the picture, you can see everything important and all of the stands. You can see the taxiway that connects the departing planes to the runway from the stands. To the far-left is one Cargo plane stand in this airport. No planes land on RWY 08 in-game.

There is also one helipad where an Airbus EC135 helicopter occasionally lands. Tapping on the helicopter pays 50 ￦!

Aircraft Handling

Aircraft Handlers - These are needed for the successful On-Time handling of aircraft. At INN you start with 6 total and it’s up to you how you allocate them. However for smaller aircraft you usually need the total number for that aircraft to have an on-time departure.
With INN you only have a choice of S or M aircraft and those will need between 2 and 7 handlers. Hint: when you have M cargo, you generally can use less handlers than you would for pax aircraft meaning your total will go further. If needed you can also use the Automatic Handler option for ￦ and the aircraft will process for you. But it will cost you one of you available handlers too.

You can gain more handlers by completing levels: 3, 14 and 31, you can also buy them in the shop as shown below.

Aircraft Movement:

Landing: Aircrafts land on RWY 26, then taxi to the gate.
Taxi-In: Since there is only 1 Taxiway, all planes use the same taxiway to get to their gates.
Holding Positions: Aircraft will hold short at the holding position on RWY 26 taxiway for take-off.
Take-off: Aircraft will taxi to RWY 26 onto the runway. S aircraft will turn left for takeoff, M aircraft will turn right and back-taxi to the start of the runway.

However, this airport has many drawbacks in terms of Aircraft Movement, see Limitations for more info

Limitations:

If 3 or more planes are in holding for take-off, this would usually block Gate 101, 102 & 111.
As mentioned, This airport is very slow due to the back taxi requirement. Even though the airport layout is simple it is not that efficient with Mass takeoffs due to the small number of stands. Though, bulk handling is still advised for grinding. The airport can only have 1 airplane back taxing at the same time and takeoff queues are frequent, along with landing queues.

Total Cost to buy all Stands: 145,000 ￦ (45,000 for all S options, 100,000 for all M options)

Buildings & Cost:

No buildings or advanced handling needs to be purchased at INN in V2

Achievements:

Common Achievements: These are basically the same at all airports.

Contracts for Generic aircraft - Using the contracts menu or via level rewards or events. Handle the required number of flights to achieve rewards. More in a separate post.
Player & Airport Connections Handle 10 flights between WOA airports and a specific player to earn Silver Planes and XP to level up. Amounts vary based on plane and location. More on this in a separate contracts post.

Levels:

This airport has currently 31 Levels (as of September 3rd 2023). The Level rewards may change (kinda) frequently. Please Check in-game for up-to-date rewards for each Level. However the screen shots below are the rewards at time of writing.

There are 2 tracks. The upper track everyone has access to. The Premium Pass lower track is available for 15GP. You can buy it at any time during your game play and all the rewards for any levels completed will be made available to you to claim

Connectivity:

The old slot system has been removed and has been replaced by the contracts system. With INN you start with a max of 10 and those can be filled with either player connections or generic contracts. You can gain more contracts by completing levels 9 and 24 (you get double if you have the Premium Pass) or from the shop as shown below

Player Strategies

@AviaWilliam suggests: Invest in Service trucks as early as you can so you can have faster turnaround times.

@Ivan0921 suggests: sell any gold planes you get (up to 4-5) to boost your ops. Your end goal is leaving INN because it is very hard to make money on it. Bulk handling strategy is highly advised. One full rotation, with maxed services, will take 10 mins exactly.

@ICEgamer1705 suggests: Once you have unlocked the ATR72 achievement keep it and do not sell it for one golden plane if you move on to BRI. It is tough to earn money in INN, and it will take a while to get enough money to buy a new plane. To speed up your in-game progress move as fast as possible to BRI even though you haven’t completed the connection rewards. You can come back to INN later in the game when you have earned money on other airports.

@Techestro suggests: Don’t invest in the Cargo Stands until you have a lot of money. I recommend it only when you have got a stable profit and unlocked all Stands. When you do plan to get a Cargo Stand, invest in [M] Cargo Stand and [M] Cargo Arrivals first, and if possible, get a [M] Cargo Fleet Plane. As @Ivan0921 suggested, Bulk Handling is highly recommended if possible to get Player Connections if you are struggling to get slot keys for more arrivals!

Final thoughts & Additional Notes

INN is not a fun airport to play, nor is it efficient for grinding money. It is advised to leave it for BRI as soon as possible, and then come back once you have a nice supply of golden planes to boost your ops and get your connection achievements.
