Hosted by @SeedyL3205, @Jummivana, @Pieter2427, @simtom2
When: Friday, July 21 @ 1800Z for two hours.

Where: The Official Twitch Channel of MSFS

There will also be a Discord event channel open for those who want to voice chat with other members of the community.

Please see below for details on the upcoming Fly-In Event:

FLIGHT DETAILS

July 21 is Belgian National Day! :belgium: Regular Fly-In co-host and Belgium resident @simtom2 has put together a guided tour to celebrate this national holiday and share information about the history, geography, people, culture, and – of course – cuisine of his home country.

We will depart from Jehonville and make our way to Ostend on the coast of the North Sea. En route, we will pass famous Belgian cities and landmarks including Bastogne, the Spa-Francorchamps F1 Circuit, the Citadel of Namur, the site of the Battle of Waterloo, Brussels, Antwerp, and Ghent.

For the best experience, we recommend installing World Update IV. This is available as a free download from the in-sim Marketplace.

Additionally, as we mentioned during last week’s Development Update Blog, our fly-in this week will also include a pre-recorded video from Jorg and other guests. Due to some of our regular Developer Stream panelists being unable to join this month, we’re sharing some new info with you via pre-recorded video in lieu of hosting a Developer Livestream. We hope you will find the video useful and informative!

Pilots on PC can download the .pln file below:
2023-07-21_Belgian_National_Day.PLN (4.4 KB)

We will be starting at EBBX. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

AIRCRAFT

Recommended aircraft: Cessna 172, CubCrafters X or NX Cub, Pipistrel Virus, Flight Design CTSL, or any other aircraft of your choice that can cruise at around 120 knots.

MULTIPLAYER SETTINGS

Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.

Variable Setting

It is advised in this flight to turn off both aircraft collisions and terrain collisions. If you do crash, you can use “slew” mode to join the pack. If the pack will be too scattered before the first stop, we will use slew on a defined point to regroup.

COMMUNICATION

To communicate with others, a voice channel on the "Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Discord” at https://discord.gg/msfs will be available to join.

LET’S FLY

This is meant to be a fun and informal flight. Everybody is welcome, no matter the amount of experience.

Just like last week’s, in preparation to the event I flew from my home airport to the starting point of the community flight. EHAM - EBBX was a nice flight with a sunset. Looking forward to the community flight with plenty of cuisine discussion!

 That’s going to be a bit sporty for the recommended aircraft.

And, yes, that’s in the original .PLN file.

Yes, I saw that. Unable.

Thinking about trying out this slightly used “new-to-me” Comanche…

Was a fun community flight, and I look forward to the Czechia update presented during the flight! The POIs of Brussels and Antwerp were a delight (I think I have a free 3rd party addon for Antwerp installed)

Beautiful tour, interesting POIs. I hadn’t flown there before, so that was something new.

Bonus: calm (real) weather, and the (real) time aligned with a perfect sunset in Belgium.

Thanks to the organizers / host team and everyone flying today.
And a special hat tip to the Cabri pilot. :1st_place_medal:

I had to run so I didn’t stick around til the end, and therefore decided to go with this excellent fast-mover that I tested out during the last community event. Ran into a few people hanging out at the destination field.
Excellent lighting during sunset was the cherry ontop of the beautiful scenery throughout. Another great flight under the belt!

That was a nice flight. I went on to London City afterwards to end the flight.

Did a similar thing here: flew back to the Netherlands. Was a fun event with some beautiful sights, improv music, and chocolate feuds :stuck_out_tongue:
