Upington Airport (IATA: UTN, ICAO: FAUP) is an airport located in Upington, Northern Cape, South Africa. At 4900 metres, runway 17/35 is one of the longest runways in the world. The high elevation of the airport, extremely high summer temperatures and the fact that it was designed for the Boeing 747 necessitated the extreme length of the main runway.

FAVG Virginia Airport
Virginia Airport (FAVG) is a small general aviation airport serving Durban, the largest city in the province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. This airport is located 10 kilometers (5.4 nautical miles) north of the city of Durban.
This airport package has been created with as much detail as it was possible without making it impossible to fly in and out of. This airport is so true to life, it is like being there! For those who have been to Virginia airport before, you will immediately recognize the airport layout.

FAVR Vredendal 1.0

FAVR – Vredendal Municipal Airport
Vredendal Municipal Airport is on the West Coast of South Africa and about 256km (140NM) from Cape Town, heading 358 degrees – in the Elephants River Valley which is one of the largest wine producing regions in South Africa. Vredendal boasts with the largest Winery in the Southern Hemisphere.
In the early nineties a local mining company donated a single paved runway to the town Vredendal. Although there is an airfield right next to the town, it did not serve the mining company’s safety regulations. First, the original Vredendal Airfield has dirt runways and was not suitable for the mining company’s King Air B200 and B300 or a small biz jet. Secondly, the old airfield lies in the valley which can become fogged in the mornings and will only clear from noon onwards.
The new airport is on a ridge outside the town and was initially equipped with runway end lights, two single white lights halfway down the runway and with big concrete markers along the length of the runway. The landing zones is initially the full width of the runway but further down the asphalt portion of the runway becomes narrower with the dirt shoulders hard padded to make up the overall width of the runway.
The airport act as a hub for serious medical evacuations by Netcare 911 using the AMS Red Cross Air Ambulance – a PC-12. Initially the plane could land at night, but over time the local township people vandalized the airport, stole the power cables and even demolished the security hut. Even without lighting, the airport was still used at night using vehicle lights as the runway end lights, but since rocks and other fodder were thrown on the runway, only daytime operations were allowed. However, Netcare 911 has a helicopter which lands at the hospital.
I have tried my best to recreate the original airport using existing libs. I had to recreate some other objects such as the security hut and a custom forest file that were not in the libs. This is quite an arid region, called the Karoo and Knersvlakte; the vegetation was quite a challenge to recreate. There is also the PC-12 on the apron with the latest AMC livery.
Many thanks to all the support and how-did-they-do-it’s in the libraries, understanding DECALS and how to use it. I have learnt a lot and perhaps know now about 12% of scenery design. There are many more small airfields and landiings strips in the West Coast region to come, but in time.

The old Vredendal Airfield is in design mode and will be released later in 2019 with some scenery of the surroundings and the town. The old airfield will have the ICAO designation FAV0 and was quite famous for its fly-ins, L-39 aerobatics (which can land on the dirt runways) and the trusty T-6 Texans doing their part.
Installation:
There are three files to choose from
01_FAVR_Default.zip – The default terrain scenery – for low-end PC’s
02_FAVR_Bare.zip – Some local overlay scenery for the immediate perimeter surroundings
03_FAVR_Area.zip - Some local overlay scenery for about 4-6 km radius
File 03 contains 02 contains 01. By downloading 03_FAVR_Area.zip you have the complete package.
Copy the content into the Customs Scenery folder. If you want to upgrade to the next level of scenery, copy the content in the Custom Scenery folder and overwrite if prompted.

FAWB Wonderboom Airport
During the 1930’s, the City Council of Pretoria decided to build a landing strip on the farm Wonderboom, approximately 15 km (9.3 mi) north of Pretoria. This was the beginning of Wonderboom Airport (FAWB) and the landing strip was open for air traffic in 1937. Over the years, the airports have been extensively upgraded and the runway lengthened to handle bigger aircraft. More upgrades are planned to include scheduled passenger services to and from the airport.
This airport package has been created with as much detail as it was possible without making it impossible to fly in and out of. This airport is so true to life, it is like being there! For those who have been to Wonderboom airport before, will immediately recognize the airport layout. Everything is where it is supposed to be from the buildings to the sign boards; even the advertising boards scattered around the land side of the airport!

Summary
This is a small airfield used by the gliding club located in the Western Cape of South Africa. It features accurate runway alignment, and a taxiway tested with World Traffic 3, two windsocks & a variety of buildings. There is no night lighting - I am not sure if there is any.

Fayetteville Regional Airport - KFAY

Fayetteville Regional Airport , also known as Grannis Field (KFAY)
This is my version of KFAY using default only objects. I downloaded the airport from the gateway and rebuilt the main terminal with edits and changes in other areas. The airport is equipped with SAM at the terminal only. A version without SAM will be loaded to the gateway, your input is greatly appreciated. 🙂
Suggestions:
Although this scenery is fine without ortho I would highly suggest it.
SAM - scenery will not work without it.
Installation:
Just drop the folder in you custom scenery and you are all set.

This is my first airport build with WED!
The military airport, Ysterplaat (Iron Plate; Afrikaans), is located in Cape Town, South Africa.
I grabbed some satellite imagery from Google Earth, and started building the airport and taxiways. I also build a simple hangar in Blender, and hopefully more buildings and trees etc. will follow soon.
I still want to do a lot to this airport, so it is by no means complete!

The airport buildings in this scenery are custom models build by yours truly using Sketch Up. A little bit about Kasane from Wikipedia :
This is a great tourist/safari area with nice hotels. I have done several charters there.
You will find Impalila Lodge (FYII) (semi-fictitious scenery) in the package, about 3 miles to the NE of Kasane, just across the river.
If you have World2XPlane, the area will be more populated. I will upload Botswana-latest to save you the trouble, so keep a look out for it in the next few days.
If you have Marginal's Sea Traffic installed, you will also find the Kazungula ferry mentioned above.
The scenery may or may not work in XP9, I don't have a copy to test it.

FBKR Kwhai River Dirt Strip

This is FBKR Kwai River scenery. The Kwai river lodge is located on the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta.
Included in the scenery is water polygons I used to draw the watering holes and part of the Kwai river. I have also started with the lodge and will add more to the lodge in later versions

Maun Airport (IATA: MUB, ICAO: FBMN) is an international airport serving the town of Maun in the North-West District of Botswana. It is on the north side of the town and is accessible by shuttle bus or taxi.
Maun Airport serves as the main gateway to the Okavango Delta and the Moremi Game Reserve. Many tour operators offer chartered flights over the Delta and to Botswana destinations such as the Makgadikgadi Pans, one of the largest seasonal wetlands in Africa. There are also daily scheduled flights to destinations in Botswana and South Africa.[4][5]
Wilderness Air operates regular charter flights from its Windhoek-Eros-hub, Namibia to Maun.[6]

Maun Airport is an international airport serving the town of Maun in the northern part of Botswana. It is an important part of the local infrastructure and serves as the main touristic gateway to the Okavango Delta and the Moremi Game Reserve. Maun Airport is located about 5 km (3.1 mi) from the town centre and is accessible by shuttle bus or taxi. Many tour operators offer chartered sightseeing flights over the Okavango Delta and vicinity. There are only a few scheduled flights daily to destinations in Botswana, South Africa and Namibia.
I came across this file after watching "Bush Pilots" on TV and it's the perfect base of operations for the awesome Carenado Grand Caravan. There are lots of small bush fields to the NW of the field but not all are properly represented in X-Plane - a project for another day maybe.
