About This File

Information about CYUL:

Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau is the largest airport in the province of Quebec, Canada. Being the third most busiest airport in Canada, right under Toronto and Vancouver International. The airport was founded in 1941. In 1975 the airport was phased out to CYMX (Mirabel airport) which became the international airport for the region of Montreal until 1997. Since the airport has been expanse to its limits, not too long ago the airport added about 10 new gates and created gate 55 which was able to store the A380 which Air France use to operate back in the days. The airport haves around 19 million passengers a year and is rapidly increasing.

Incredible, amazing CYUL scenery, I hardly can't see any difference with the Globalarts's payware, except far better FPS and free of charge. I don't use the payware anymore !

Thank you so very much

This is without doubt, the BEST freeware scenery that has ever existed on X-Plane! I love how the beautiful graphics is balanced out with a smooth and fast FPS. In the real world, I fly between Montreal and Toronto very often and it's such a treat to see this airport modeled so well on XP. It's even better than many payware sceneries, like the one I have for YYZ which unfortunately suffers from bad FPS.

So, many thanks for making this scenery!

I'm not one to normally write reviews, but I felt I absolutely needed to on this one. This is one of the best freeware sceneries I have seen, very detailed and FPS friendly. Excellent job!

I just installed this today. Great scenery with beautiful textures and for me, most importantly, the green taxi lights are perfectly visible on all taxi-ways. Unlike the payware by GloballArt, where the developer never even responded to my post nor my earlier email about missing taxiway lights.

Thank-you Sandro! You did the right thing in going ahead with this scenery despite the payware being out there, because the payware is sub-standard.  Once I actually fly to and from this airport, I can put more detailed comments, but wanted to encourage you for your priceless dedication to flightsimming and to X-Plane. 🙂

Response from the author:

Thank you a lot sir. I really love having feedback, makes my day.

OMG !

This is just beautiful and very well done.! (I'm from Montreal).

I'm also pilot student flying currently with CYUL as my school base and I can say this is freaking accurate. Thank you for making this.

Some suggestion:
Add some VFR references like: IKEA, Stade olympique, Oratoire Saint Joseph and the windmills that we as students use as reference flying over St Remi (training area), also having some very representative MTL places will be nice like our downtown skyscrapers, the old port with the big boats and ships, La Ronde amusement park, Jacques Cartier bridge with the night colors, etc.... 😁

Let me know if need help, I'm currently junior with blender 2.8 but I already made some stuff.

Response from the author:

If you want VFR landmarks from Montreal i would recommend @Canada4XPlane Montreal VFR package for free in the link below :)

Amazing scenery....I travel to and from Montreal many times and this looks EXACTLY like in real life....up to one extent:

Is there a way for me to have my own ortho that would be at zoom level 18 for the airport and city?

Thanks so much!!

Greetings,

Fil

Response from the author:

If you want you can remove the Ortho by going inside WorldEditor and delete files called "tile 1" to "tile 8" or simply inside the scenery folder delete the section called tiles, if you do that though you will have a error show up in the sim. Thanks for the 5 star :)

I can not integrate the Ortho of that zone, the scenery invalidates me. The order is fine. Please...
Thanks for the Amazing contribution

Response from the author:

The problem is on your end, Ortho works prefectly fine for me and many others, I would double check your scenery.ini files and make sure the ortho is the right tile and that it is below the scenery.

A much appreciated addition to the list of freeware Canadian airports! Works well, little impact on performance, all we need now is a winter option. 😉

A really nicely constructed scenery with lots of custom buildings -- thanks very much for sharing with the community.

That said, however, and as a general rule, I personally dislike when scenery developers use orthos as a substitute for laying down pavement textures; e.g., for parking areas, aprons, etc., and particularly in northern climates. The reason being that orthos occlude winter/snow overlays and so I typically hide the orthos in WED. But then doing so leaves lots of grass areas where pavement should be and the airport doesn't look right without the winter overlay. But again just a personal preference.

Reply to author: Kind of you to offer; I can do this myself if/when I find time. My comment was mainly intended as a kind of "wish list" item perhaps for future consideration. And perhaps there aren't enough users like me who care about this... I don't know? But again, thanks all the same!

Response from the author:

If you want I can make a Non-Ortho file and ill remove any green vegetation.
