Royal Air Force Akrotiri or more simply RAF Akrotiri (IATA: AKT, ICAO: LCRA) is a large Royal Air Force station, on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. It is located in the Western Sovereign Base Area, one of two areas which comprise Akrotiri and Dhekelia, a British Overseas Territory, administered as a Sovereign Base Area.

The station commander has a dual role and is also the officer commanding the Akrotiri or Western Sovereign Base Area, reporting to the commander of British Forces Cyprus who is also the Administrator.

Personal comments:

It seems that many military airports in X-Plane have not yet been modeled and LCRA was a case in point. With many X-Plane users now trying their hand at flying military jets, RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus seemed like a good choice. Considering the constant upheavals in the Middle East, and its neighbors, any RAF station on Cyprus is strategically very important. The airfield has about 6 aprons, each of which presented its own unique design problems and headaches. While I did enjoy making this scenery, especially in the first few weeks, I was very glad when it was finally done. 

Elevation is at 23.1 metres (76 ft) and there is a single asphalt runway: 10/28  which is 2,743 metres (8,999 ft) in length. Since the runway is long and wide enough, feel free to pick a large cargo jet,  an Atlas Military Transport A400M (if you have one) or even a commercial jet and fly across to Gibraltar on the other side of the Mediterranean. On the way there you may want to stop at one of my other Mediterranean airports, LMML, LICP,LICT,LIRI,LIBA,LIAF,LIRJ,LFKC,LFNG and LIER. Plan your flight carefully because few of these airports can accommodate your large transport aircraft.

Installation:

Put unzipped folder, Europe_Cyprus_LCRA in X-Plane, Custom Scenery folder. Restart X-Plane. If scenery does not show up, make sure that it is above Global airports and any Mesh Scenery you may be using,  in the scenery_packs.ini file. Remember to disable other sceneries of the same airport, if you have any. If the scenery does not look like the pictures, then you must have picked up another scenery in your Custom Scenery folder.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. I upload these sceneries to this site even though they are normally approved and later included in future versions of X-Plane so that users will have a jump start on these airports until they are in fact included in the default X-Plane version. Also, I occasionally update these sceneries and unless the update is big, then I only submit the update on this site. So, if you download any of my Canada_XX_XXXX  or other sceneries and find that they are not different from the default, it is because this scenery has already been approved and included in X-Plane. If you receive any error messages during loading, please update X-Plane to the latest version.
   I would suggest that if you are happy with the scenery in question, you hang on to it regardless of the fact that the present X-Plane version has the identical (approved) scenery because in later X-Plane versions this might be over-written, for better or for worse, by a different approved version.
2. If you notice trees growing where they shouldn't or other autogen incursions, try disabling your Mesh to see if this is the problem. Please write to me if this happens. This scenery like all the others (I've updated quite a few) should be compatible with HD Mesh V4. 
3. Do not be misled by the tiny size (Less than 100 kb) of the file. This is a LEGO-BRICK scenery and uses the megabytes of art assets  already included in your installation of X-Plane. It will compare favorably, at times better, to other (much larger sized) sceneries of this area and will probably exceed your expectations.
