About This File

This is a highly detailed scenery of Helsinki Airport. ( EFHK / HEL ) 

Helsinki Airport is the largest airport in Finland. In 2019 almost 22 million passengers travelled via Helsinki Airport.

Back in 2019 I started working on the scenery and now V2 is finally out!

Special thanks to all betatesters and @Tonny0909 for their models!

Requirements:

 


 

Installation:

 

  1. Install all libraries listed above.

  2. Install Autogate plugin and SAM plugin.

  3. Click download file and select the package you want to download. The top one is the landmarks and the bottom one is the airport package. Both will open a google drive page. Click the download icon on the top right.

  4. After download simply copy the ‘’EFHK Helsinki Airport V2.3’’ folder into ‘’X-Plane 11/Custom Scenery’’

  5. Open your scenery_packs.ini file and paste 
    SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/EFHK - Helsinki Airport V2.3/ to the top of the list.

 

 

Please note that jetways may not work perfectly when loading the scenery for the first time. Restarting X-Plane 11 may help.

Hmmm. This seems to be an issue:
0:02:45.367 E/SCN: ***Error with scenery file "+60+024.dsf" (io_dsf.cpp:813.)***

There is also this:
0:02:45.367 E/SCN: Unable to load draped polygon file 'Custom Scenery/PPlibrary/RwyNumber_white_dirt/16_dirt.pol'.

If you open the folders to custom scenery/PPLibrary/... do you see that 16_dirt.pol file?


There are a bunch of these:
0:02:45.367 I/SCN: DSF load time: 92197 for file Custom Scenery/simHeaven_X-Europe-7-network/Earth nav data/+60+020/+60+026.dsf (0 tris, 0 skipped for 0.0 m^2)
0:02:45.367 I/SCN: DSF load time: 1597963 for file Global Scenery/X-Plane 11 Global Scenery/Earth nav data/+60+020/+60+026.dsf (170173 tris, 2 skipped for -3.6 m^2)
0:02:45.367 E/DSF: The DSF Custom Scenery/simHeaven_X-Europe-7-network/Earth nav data/+60+020/+60+026.dsf has a number of problems with its road network: 10 doubled nodes, 0 direction reverses, 0 short segments, 2 roads deleted

But I don't think they would cause that error.


I loaded the airport scenery in my version of x-plane and got a similar error but for SAM Library. When I updated that library it loads fine. So I am thinking the issue os with your copy of PP library. It hasn't been updated in a while but check to be sure you have that 16_dirt.pol file.

Great news!

It works!! I reinstalled PP-library and it loaded. 
The airport looks great and now I can finally fly Finnair realisticly

This is really nice looking scenery of EFHK. Really nice work. I wonder if someone can help me though? I'm using X-Life and it seems that the planes are parking inside the terminal. They also are taxing on grass etc. I also seem to be missing the gate numbers, or maybe they are missing from the scenery?

The problem with X-Life is that you need to make a special configuration for each airport. You are most likely using old X-Life configuration for EFHK (that Finnair is parked at gate 35, which doesn't exist anymore). To get X-Life for EFHK work properly, you either have to make your own configuration or download updated version online. Have you tried this one? I'm not sure if it works though.

I thought it was something like this. Thanks, learning more everyday. Unfortuantely that seemed to be a bit worse config to my liking. Planes taxiing through lamp posts in front of the gates 26 , 27 etc. But now I know what to look for. Would be nice to find a working one with your beautiful EFHK and perhaps one for the EFOU too :)

Thanks for the great scenery!

I am trying to learn how to use the autogate. 

If I start a flight  from gate 25 with the default 737, the jetway is connected. Starting engines and releasing the parking brake have the expected result: the jetway retracts.

But what am I supposed to do when parking at the gate 25 after landing? When I approach the gate, I can see the distance meter on the wall. It works as expected. Once I stop when instructed, then the sign displays "OK" for a while, and then goes black. I set the parking brake and cut off the engines, but nothing happens for the jetway. I tried with the default 737 and Zibo mod, same result. Are there some other conditions for the jetway to work?

And another question about FPS performance. With my rig the VR experience is smooth with this scenery when flying the default 737. However, Zibo mod adds complexity to the extent that I get stuttering. What are the main FPS hogs in the airport scnenery? I thought I could try to remove such objects using WED if you can give a hint on where to start.

Hello! First of all, autogate is used in this scenery only for DGS and proper parking position. SAM or Scenery Animation Manager does all the jetway work. The custom SAM jetways are not that good, I am trying to improve them in the next update! It's a bit tricky to get the jetway connected when arriving. If you are using up to date SAM version, you should see a small gray ''A'' or ''M'' in the top left corner when approaching the gate. When that icon turns blue, you are in the jetway range. So instead of looking at the DGS you can look at the SAM icon 😃. I'll do my best to improve the system!

Thanks for the response. I have not noticed any letters so far, perhaps they do not render in VR. 

Regarding the FPS question. I went and tried if removing some "suspicous" objects from the scenery would improve the framerate. I started from the construction cranes, clutter and parked cars, but that did not have any noticeable effect.

Quick test with XP11.50b1 and seems quite ok. Only thing I found was that the radar on the top of the building is now floating about 100m in the air...

I did resolve this.

1) remove this scenery

2) delete efhk ground route text files (arriving and departing)

3) launch x-plane, make New ground routes with wt3.

4) close x-plane, add this scenery

5) make ground routes again with wt3 when asked

6) worked!

Nice work and nice to have a good Helsinki-Vantaa scenery for XP because that is my home airport 😃 Just one notice, gate numbers are missing from the gates (from the yellow background). Did I miss something or is it just missing? 😃 Other than that, 5/5 😃

Hello, I'm not familiar with 11.50 yet so I do not know what is causing that. The scenery will get full Vulkan support in the next update (after 11.50 stable release).

1. How ever, how can I remove those red "devils" from apron?

2. How can I make/adjust those Gates came alive?
