Ron Baruah
Released : Use of PBR wherever possible. ORBX styled orthophotos. Around 80% custom objects. SAM gates. Apparently modelling has began and I want to take my time with this project. Edited July 20, 2020 by Ron Baruah 3

StableSystem
glad to see another person taking the time to learn custom modeling. You might want to consider learning blender at some point down the line. As you get to bigger and more complex buildings you'll realize the limitations of sketchup. With blender you are able to modify the individual polygons which will come in handy when you have very large buildings and need to watch your polygon count. Keep up the good work!

You guys are the benchmark of what freeware airports can look like. At the moment I am already struggling with the limitations of sketchup especially with texturing the faces and getting a proper alignment. Blender is definitely in my wishlist, it is far more complex but I will be over it soon.
Ron Baruah
Progress update. Bored with modelling terminals, I tried moving onto ground polygons and results were quite satisfying! The textures/polygons are layered and do come with PBR implementation. Here are two day and evening shots.

Ron Baruah
The airport will be perfectly compatible with online flying and with SAM V2, the new Honeywell VDGS will be featured too. So far the terminal is done. Atc tower and nearby buildings are currently WIP.
Ron Baruah
The tower alone took a month with multiple revisions and lack of reference images, but things are still on schedule.

Ron Baruah
I have start to paint the orthos, literally. We don't have the most crisp satellite images or colours in India, so it would be a rather pragmatic approach to not use them at all. The textures will be photoshopped over the orthophotos with decent blending. Edited January 29, 2020 by Ron Baruah
StableSystem
it's probably worth it to download paint.net or gimp (I use gimp myself). MS Paint is like the sketchup of the 2d world, but even worse at that.

Not so bad when you had years making some amazing paintings on it😉 Thanks for the suggestion, but somewhere I don't feel like keeping my factory going on after VEGT and VA1J. So both Blender and paint.net are not worth the time saved by investing on them.

Ron Baruah
END of ALPHA update Seasonal textures: No sim reloading needed! DRY RAIN Millions of handplaced objects Attention to detail: Every gate coordinate was run through a series of math to give the exact location in decimals. I didn't "drag and drop" the ramps, just types their coordinates for pin-point accuracy! Custom-made ground handling for true to life airport ambiance. I had a series of models that needed revision and rescaling, including animations. So far I have worked for 200+ hours on the clock and my gallery is filled with 10,000 reference images from the airport! If things go at the current rate, we can have a release by the end of the month. 4

At the moment I am optimizing animations on radar, getting a creative commons license and a little closed beta to check performance. Things might get delayed though, but it will happen by second week of July with a launch event on IVAO.
