We have another new destination to visit this Sunday, November 8th, again with excellent freeware scenery available: Kagoshima Airport, Japan (RJFK). Located on a hilltop overlooking the city of Kirishima and Kagoshima Bay, this single-runway airport is the second busiest on the island of Kyushu, with plenty of commercial traffic, both domestic and international. Various volcanic mountains surround the airport, including the Kirishima Mountains to the northeast and Sakurajima across the bay. The latter has even erupted as recently as a month ago, with minor disruption to local aviation from the volcanic ash. In addition to the linked airport scenery by @Bruno Reichert, I recommend installing @MisterX6's Japan Pro add-on (also linked below), to get all those little details right for those VFR sightseeing flights.

Started my morning today at Osaka's Kansai International RJBB on the Carenado Falcon 50, with the skyline of Kaizuka city as the background.

Osaka's airport is modern and pretty busy.

Taxied to RWY 24L and took off to Kagoshima.

Pretty clear this is a manmade island designed for the airport.

Flight was pretty calm at FL260 over the land of the rising sun.

A little over 1hr in the flight, I was on final at Kagoshima's RJFK.

Landed and followed the Skymark's flight 738  towards the GA parking area further down the ramp.

Parked and enjoyed the scenery for a little bit before switching planes and heading to a new destination.

The second half of my flight would be to a smaller airfield at Amakusa, RJDA close by, and for that I chose the Piper Cherokee.

Taxied to RWY 34 after 49TE landed on what seemed to be a PC12, for what would be a short flight.

It has an interesting sign that I am not sure if the bear is saying that earmuffs are required or do not trespass.

Another great Fly-In, over very beautiful sceneries and full of amazing airports to meet. Lots of fun today, with some very nice flights, although cloudy and foggy, and so not many pictures depicting this amazing place.

For the first fly, departed from RJNS - Shizuoka, having the beautiful mount Fuji on the background. Before departure, "cheated" momentarily the weather, just to take a couple of crisp shots as we prep for departure.

As we pick the path towards Kagoshima, time to wave a last farewell to mount Fuji...

On the way to Kagoshima, clouds reapear

Smooth approach and landing at Kagoshima. This time, let the ILS do most of the heavy job.

Just a brief stop and get ready to head for RJBB - Kansai. The sceneries are indeed very beautiful.

Heading to Kansai, waved at Merlin and a couple of other pilots heading opposite direction towards Kagoshima.

After Kansai, a couple of legs to return once more to Kagoshima, including VFR freeflight to better enjoy the view and enjoy the privilege of participate on this amazing fly-in

And finally a swift F35 go-around over the mountains and returning following the Eastern coastline, waving at Kumi's F4 just to celebrate another excelent Fly-In.

Started out from Tokyo Haneda, a bit later than most of the pack this time. My aircraft of choice was the FlightFactor 767, an excellent and detailed model but unfortunately not fully compatible with the Saitek external panels.

767-300ER_xp11 - 2020-11-08 16.35.04.jpg

I hadn't set the sim's clock to real time this time, didn't feel like making nothing but night flights when there was so much scenery to see! With my tweaked time of day settings, I was instead treated to a nice sunrise just as I was passing Mt. Fuji.

767-300ER_xp11 - 2020-11-08 17.55.19.jpg

Arriving at Kagoshima, I managed to fly most of the ILS approach by adjusting the autopilot settings in the virtual cockpit only, as the knobs on the external panels weren't doing anything.

767-300ER_xp11 - 2020-11-08 18.06.51.jpg

By the time for the final approach, I had to fall back on manual piloting. My landing was so-and-so, due to a combination of some turbulence as well as my relative unfamiliarity with the 767 - I tend not to get so frequent use out of these complex payware craft due to the aforementioned external panel issues.

F-4 - 2020-11-08 18.37.57.jpg

I then switched to an old XP10 F-4 Phantom II model that had a nice JASDF livery available.

F-4 - 2020-11-08 18.48.15.jpg

I took the Phantom on a tour of the nearby island of Tanegashima, although the ride was bumpy once again - this time due to glitches caused by flying an older XP10 model in XP11, the aircraft became dangerously unstable any time I approached Mach 1 but was perfectly flyable as long as I kept a careful eye on my airspeed and Mach number.

F-4 - 2020-11-08 19.04.59.jpg

Returning to an empty airport, I still saw @pdproenca zoom past a couple of times in his F-35 shortly after landing.

SF34 - 2020-11-08 19.51.11.jpg

I finally switched to the Carenado Saab 340 in another custom livery bearing the famous JAL "tsurumaru" logo - this time the livery of local feeder airline Japan Air Commuter, based at Kagoshima.

SF34 - 2020-11-08 19.53.12.jpg

Departing from runway 34, I left Kagoshima behind for now and headed for my last destination for tonight…

SF34 - 2020-11-08 20.22.47.jpg

…the city of Fukuoka, only a short hop north even in the slower turboprop. Unfortunately I forgot to update my gateway scenery for RJFF, so there were no terminal buildings at all.

For FSEconomy I flew the Piper, but in my Hangar there is no PA-42-1000, but the PC-12 is similar enough.
