Kumiankka
link to fly-in index thread Quote For this upcoming Sunday, June 6th we have another European airport to visit, but one a bit further north near Gothenburg (or as the locals say, Göteborg), the second-largest city in Sweden, served by Landvetter Airport (ESGG) which is also the country's second-largest airport. Nearby sights to see include the rocky coastline of the Kattegat stretching from the Öresund in the south to the Norwegian border to the north, as well as the great lakes Vänern and Vättern located about 50 miles north and east respectively. Custom scenery is available both for the aforementioned international airport in Landvetter as well as the smaller Göteborg City Airport in Säve, nowadays restricted to light GA traffic only due to runway damage. Have a nice trip - trevlig resa! New pilots are always welcome, read the guide below by @bootsie to get started: How to connect to X-Flightserver Or to connect using the new Swift client, see this tutorial by @ostkamp: Swift client quick reference guide (pdf) Be considerate towards your fellow pilots, and above all, have fun! ManofMac
I have an Ortho question. I downloaded and installed, correctly I think, ortho's for Louisiana. The files are at the bottom of the .ini file. Scenery for Louisiana does not look any different. Ortho's came from the same place that Surf recommended for Arizona Would the log.txt show they loaded? Any help would be appreciated P Edited June 1, 2021 by ManofMac added a question

ostkamp
To those of you who are flying the Aerobask Phenom 300 or have an interest to display it correctly during the fly-in: The X-CSL team has published a new CSL for it on June 4th, see https://csl.x-air.ru/info/item/421 In order to use it in Swift, it needs to be downloaded via X-CSL updater and then converted and tweaked. I had best results with VERT_OFFSET 0.8. Make sure to not overwrite other already converted / tweaked entries from X-CSL by mistake (I use the updater in a faked installation and then grab the files from there). The aircraft windows are grey and not see-through at least for me unfortunately, but otherwise the model is usable. It uses ICAO E55P. I did it, because today I fly again the Aerobask Phenom 300 (E55P). ghun1
thanks Rajo. Its not as easy as the old method to add a new CSL model, so I hope I do not mess up.
Quintao
Continuing on the theme of repurposing previous fly-in locations. This morning I started from Sogndal / Haukasen, Norway - ENSG. I took advantage of last week's Memorial day holiday in the US and purchased a Beechcraft King Air 350 modeled by Airfoil. They did a great work on this aircraft and the plugins. Pre-flight complete, back tracked on RWY 06. The King Air 350 would require all of the runway available at ENSG for take off. Climbed to FL210 for the flight into ESGG. Landed on RWY 21 at ESGG, but didn't take any pictures, so I took off again and flew the pattern, this time taking pictures. @Vega66 callsign could be see down on the field on his F16. This time I took pictures while on final for RWY 21. Parked by the Goteborg airport terminal sign and watched many arrivals and a take off from RWY 21. @ghun1 arrived on an Airbus with SAS livery and parked on Gate 19. Merlin rendered as a C172. @CHASMAN2014 on a Premier 1 jet, modeled here as a Citation X. @Kumiankka took off on a fighter jet. Chas parked close by for a picture. @Big-IN, aka Dino 5, arrived on a 747-400. Lastly, at least on this Pirep, @ostkamparrived on a Embraer Regional Jet. Enjoy what is left of your weekend all! Vega66
Started today from Spain, recreating the SAS1802 regular Sunday flight that connects Alicante, Spain to this weeks destination, Göteborg Landvetter. For my list of available aircraft there wasn't many Swedish options available, buit the SAS livery for the A321 was a nice match. Flight plan scheduled for today After 30 minutes spent with the already familiar reboots after first X-Plane startup, everything stabilized perfectly and we were cleared for departure on LEAL's RWY28 Great flight, without issues, landing after 3 and half hours, right on schedule. Safely parked at the assigned Gate 14 Then a switch to a speed airframe, to pay a visit to the Öresund bridge, just before the incoming wave of regular arrivals. Schedule was running tight, so time to climb vertical to FL600+ and go supersonic After less than 10 minutes the F16 was already over the Bridge Dive for some crazy stunts And return to land right after @Kumiankka and @Quintao, and call a lunch brake. It was already late when I managed to return to visit some nearby airports. Still catch @ManofMac and @rajo that were landing. A stop by ESGP - Göteborg City and the former ESGX - Torslanda And a final return to Landvetter, to catch an unscheduled flight to Lisbon, TAP856, and call it a day Wish you all a wonderful week, hope to meet you soon. ostkamp
Hi all, since I temporarily ran out of disk space during the flight, X-Plane somehow managed to save a corrupted replay which could not be loaded anymore, so sorry I could not get more screenshots this time. I started at German airport Dresden (EDDC) this time in an Embraer Legacy 650. Dino5 aka @Big-IN was also around in his Boeing 747 (he recommends https://github.com/mSparks43/747-400) and took a while to get started. Meanwhile Chas joined as well at the airport. Dresden airport from above: The Lufthansa ERJ Legacy 650 getting pushed back I had to wait for longer since Dino5 required some time to get setup and his ILS aligned. Meanwhile Chas got ready, taxiied to 04 and took off. Departure from Dresden. I was following Jet airway flightplan EDDC N0250F350 OSKA9E DOBUR UL986 BOLBO UM748 BUMIL UL619 AMLUH UM852 ALASA P615 ALS Z731 GOTEX MAKU3S ESGG as calculated by Little Navmap + manual addition of SID / STAR. Since I had some trouble to keep high speed, Dino5 caught up, also Chas and he were flying a more direct route. Flying over Denmark. On STAR MAKU3S turning towards ILS approach runway 21. I had had some trouble to get down quickly to follow the altitude restrictions before. Runway in sight with a lot others already at the airport. Since I was flying too slow for DIno5s B747 I went to minimum airspeed and let him overtake while on final. Here he is landing just in front of me. Fortunately he could clear the runway just in time. Dino5 was taxiing around from one end of the airport to the other seeking for a sufficiently large parking lot for his B747. I got parked in front. Final overview of the Goeteborg Landvetter airport. Called it a day here. Off-topic: Within the last week I finished my planned flights for the 1-month rent of a Baron 58 aircraft in FS-Economy, and successfully took it down from Canada via California and Texas to Key West in Florida. In case you need to rent a Baron 58 there, watch out for aircraft C-BEWT (https://server.fseconomy.net/aircraftlog.jsp?id=19968 ) around June 10th. It belongs to Whiskey Trip Aviation. Hope to see you on next Sunday. Edited June 6, 2021 by ostkamp

ghun1
Another good fly-in and some more fun with CSL objects in Swift, everyone seemingly seeing other aircraft quite differently for the most part. What with all our past fly-ins usually speckled with audio reports of "oh no I see you as an A320...." I was amused when Kumi called out that he could NOT see me as an A320 despite being logged in as one 🤣 I tried my hand at the FF A320 in SAS colours and using IAE engines (I think they look really nice nacelles) taking off from a rainy Hellsinki (EFHK). Little did I realise how stormy it actually was and I had trouble with severe turbulence right from take off. I was glad the autopilot did a better job than I could when I engaged it, and soon discovered the cause --- a huge Cunim resembling an atomic explosion, lightning and everything. Happily quickly left it below and behind. nice skies over the sea and the approach to Stockholm. Zooming in on the airport I realized we probably use (and for the most part waste) a lot of RAM holding details in store, as they are drawn when you get close but the info must be saved somewhere right? And I do not think x-plane ever removes it. Thats my explanation for why long trips slowly eat your RAM. Well mine anyway. All the detailed airports you fly over are in RAM even if they are not drawn, and its never purged. Correct me if I'm wrong. Approaching destination I had the feeling I was being watched. Kumi escorted me in flying a Grippen, but looked to me (and to Quintao it turned out) like a Hercules 😃 At least it had a swedish livery. On landing I passed the closed taxiway with its bulldozers, and headed for the pretty terminal but my parking space was blocked. The occupier was kind enough to vacate, and actually wait for me to park before leaving. I assume it was a plane from live traffic as all the traffic global ones were well labelled. Quintao's aircraft, chasers 767 and Vega's F-16 were looking really good in CSL form, though others looked like A300s for some reason. Kumi is landing in the last shot and still a Hercules despite my efforts to remap it to something more appropriate. all good fun, see you next time Gary PS Vega, I think you have two bridges in your scenery.... but it looks good anyway!
Kumiankka
Those SAS Airbuses were quite popular this week, not that surprisingly! I started out in one as well, flying Riviere's A320neo from nearby Stockholm Arlanda. On departure from ESSA the prominent Globen landmark of Stockholm was visible in the distance, although you had to look closely. No issues with the ILS this time, although I did hit some light turbulence on short final. Just as I was vacating the runway, @Vega66 made a low flyby in an F-16 that actually showed up correctly for once. The only real difference was the livery (Belgian Air Force on my screen rather than the Portuguese one in Vega's shots), but in these shots you can't really tell the difference. Next it was my turn to go up in a fighter jet, a JAS Gripen appropriate to the setting. No, I didn't take off from the taxiway (although the Gripen with its short field capability probably would've had few problems doing so), this was one of the flybys I made shortly after takeoff. I then went looking for approaching traffic, sighting @ghun1 approaching over Lake Vänern. As he mentioned, I originally saw him as a Dash 8 but was able to adjust the displayed model to something closer, with the livery not quite an exact match but again close enough considering the Helsinki route he was flying! After burning off most of my fuel and ditching the drop tank somewhere in the Kattegat I returned to Landvetter, taxiing behind the 767 of Chaser. We had different scenery installed for ESGG, so I saw the massive 767 overrun some helpless construction equipment parked on a blocked-off taxiway! Switching aircraft again, I decided to try out the T-7 Red Hawk for the first time. Vega's F-16 was parked on the tarmac as I taxiied to the active. While I was holding short, the Swift client mysteriously decided that the closest match for the approaching plane of Chas (Beechcraft Premier according to the ICAO code) was a MiG-29 of all things. Well, at least they are both twin-engined jets… My takeoff attempt didn't go so well, and I was forced to abort takeoff due to control issues which I was unable to troubleshoot during the fly-in (again, maybe I have some updates to install). The airport was already emptying out - for my last flight out I picked the Rotate MD-80 in the colors of a long-since defunct Gothenburgian local airline. @rajo took off on his flight back to Germany while I was running through the startup procedures. Soon I was underway to Helsinki, passing the Stockholm Archipelago again on the way. After a little over an hour's flight I arrived to a somewhat rainy Helsinki-Vantaa Airport to call it a day.
