Actually, I started to do a few flights without your company already on Wednesday, because I was counting on my daughter's visit on Sunday and thus would not have time for the FlyIn.image.thumb.jpeg.2f9b80943576fc321fec878d35c45b8b.jpeg

After all, I had virtual companionship and imagined there was something like Brazilian temperament

image.thumb.jpeg.611da886c87f439628b1793aeee54594.jpeg

On Saturday, on one of those flights to or from Rio de Janeiro, I spotted this ornate building

image.thumb.jpeg.221356d860f2706b93189f0cbab8f97f.jpeg

Then, Sunday morning at a rather deserted airfield ...

image.thumb.jpeg.b2c06604fca5cc2758cdd22d88cc28b1.jpeg

... my euphoria did not last long, because I crashed without knowing why, and an emergency landing also ended in disaster

image.thumb.jpeg.813a127d1c39168d4ee0f36683ef88cc.jpeg

I thought it had something to do with the "KingAir C90B JongePionier" with winglets, and switched to the original Laminar C90

image.thumb.jpeg.21d65847d76ae39c43f1a95b82facd32.jpeg

that started quite well

image.thumb.jpeg.b6a7cb4fac5dd456add5052b5374cec9.jpeg

but I had the same problem a few more times, and got more and more behind in arriving on time in Rio

image.thumb.jpeg.0c1068a54f2951d38c7eebd6dd0970d7.jpeg

i thought i had learned something and tried again with the JongePionier

image.thumb.jpeg.01c9e3d664c20df7ebabb4f31ca08c6e.jpeg

Here you can see how it happens again: the fuel no longer flows

image.thumb.jpeg.04f704f502144b6db7cdbbd219c39c8f.jpeg

at least the emergency landing worked this time

image.thumb.jpeg.f1130afd90b58723ced5ad9b26070235.jpeg

but nevertheless I was at the end of my nerve, and changed to a sympathetic, straightforward 6-seater Twinjet

image.thumb.jpeg.895f867047ff911aa8ffa377c74a9f5e.jpeg

to counter directly @CHASMAN2014

Jetting around the Sugarloaf with the EclipseNG was a lot of fun

image.jpeg

I did not have only 1 Jesus. All good things come in threes!

image.jpeg

is that the Copa Cabana?

image.jpeg

and that the Maracana?

image.jpeg

The Bridge Challenge worked this time

image.jpeg

that is @Kumiankka in his ultra ultra light, apparently he is being run over right now

image.jpeg

waiting for line up behind @ostkamp

image.jpeg

good bye, Rio

I used a Cessna Skyhawk to visit all 4 airports in the Rio area with suggested scenery and do some sightseeing around the city to enjoy the great views.  Started at Afonsos

image.thumb.jpeg.6ca6884bd259b4a4fa5548f87c9914db.jpeg

then headed to Jacarepaguá

Since this is a flight simulator, I thought it important to insert a picture of my plane here

I will not be able to be at the next Fly-in as I am traveling but hope to join you all the week after.

All the best!

Nice detail!

Jacaré means "Gator" , and this drawing is a reference to the Jacarepaguá racing circuit where the F1 Brazil GP took place between 1978 to 1989.

wow excellent pireps everyone. Thank you all for the nice wishes, much appreciated. As it turned out the sea view from our seats by the window in the restaurant (Tarragon if you want to look it up) gave us a great view of the powerboat racing we had known nothing about!

I think Kumi's flare dump could be a tribute to sugar loaf mountain as it looks the right shape. I see I am going to have to get this phenom thingy as everyone seems to be saying how good it is. And the flood light concrete supports for the airport look rather daunting - I would not want to taxi into one of those.

see you for the next fly in

Gary

Late PIREP for me this week. It is fun reading all of your PIREPs touring Rio!

1052022114_b738-2022-04-2408_03_35.thumb.jpg.2dd214fb1881c8575a6ec622a260adca.jpg434787121_b738-2022-04-2408_35_45.thumb.jpg.d52a0e712f6e5f729c8c1fda3d82a730.jpg

I began my flight in Curitiba (SBCT) with the ZIBO 737. The fog was so thick I could not see the taxiway from the gate. After carefully taxiing to runway 15 and backtracking to line up after @MerlinEng departed, I lifted off into the cloud. The skies cleared up above 8,000 if I recall correctly and the rest of the flight was smooth sailing.

I made my approach to runway 28 at Galeão, trying to keep the frame rate up with the heavy scenery. Sugarloaf mountain faintly visible in the distance of the first picture.

@CHASMAN2014 landed moments after I cleared the runway and we both taxied back to the terminal, crossing over the taxiway bridges which divide the airport.

We all parked together at the outer-facing gates to watch others arrive. @gp4tom landing in the photo above. Unfortunately I did not have enough time to tour the area this week, so I called it a day here, but I will definitely have to return in the future. The GlobalArt scenery is amazingly detailed!

See you next week!

Great PIREPs everybody!

Ironic @Quintao that you flew the 'Whisperjet' into one of the loudest parties on Earth, haha! Great screenshots.

@Vega66 I like your dignified post after your runway over-run/excursion. Kinda ironic again that your aircraft became a different kind of 'float' for the carnival.

Great screenshots @rajo of the three Jesuses - one for each landing maybe?

Ah, so that's what they are - I wondered what those obelisks are, I even wondered whether they are incorrectly-high autogen or something.

You all found some interesting places along the way - thanks for another vicarious thrill.
