Next Sunday, February 19th we continue the Manufacturers Tour and visit the home of Embraer S.A. in Brazil - in a slight change of plans, not the larger factory airport at Gavião Peixoto (SBGP) which we already visited in 2018, but the site of Embraer's headquarters at São José des Campos-Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf International Airport (SBSJ).  If you have time to spare from the admittedly long flights this week, you can also pay a visit to SBGP which is located 166 miles to the northwest. Both airports have excellent freeware custom scenery available courtesy of @ruifo, and as an incredibly well-timed bonus surprise for those of you still on XP11, X-Crafts have just released their XP11 Embraer E-Jets series as freeware, giving everyone the perfect chance to try them out!

And as far as the following week and the next refueling stop goes, we will be visiting a former test site of Bombardier, de Havilland Canada and Avro Canada in, you guessed, it, Canada. While it isn't exactly halfway on the route, I'm going to recommend Princess Juliana International Airport (TNCM) in Sint Maarten as the stopover point due to its unique scenery and spectacular approach low over the beaches. From SBSJ this will be a little under 2700 nautical miles, with about 1750 nautical miles left over for next week.

Updated tour schedule:

January 8th: HAL Airport, Bengaluru, India (VOBG)
Optional refueling stop: Mary International Airport, Turkmenistan (UTAM)
January 15th: Zhukovsky International Airport, Moscow, Russia (UUBW)
Optional refueling stop: Bryansk, Russia (UUBP)
January 22nd: Hostomel "Antonov-2" Airport, Kyiv, Ukraine (UKKM)
Optional refueling stop: Kaunas, Lithuania (EYKA)
January 29th: Linköping/Saab Airport, Sweden (ESSL)
Optional refueling stop: Esbjerg, Denmark (EKEB)
February 5th: Warton Aerodrome, Lancashire, UK (EGNO)
Optional refueling stop: Caen, France (LFRK)
February 12th: Toulouse–Blagnac Airport, France (LFBO)
Optional refueling stop: Amílcar Cabral Int'l, Cabo Verde (GVAC)
February 19th: São José dos Campos, Brazil (SBSJ)
Optional refueling stop: Princess Juliana Int'l, Sint Maarten (TNCM)
February 26th: ????

Have a nice trip - boa viagem!

@Kumiankka Simbrief says that a direct flight GVOC to SBSJ is not possible with any of the Embraer jets. A319 and B737-800 also fails.

Only the B747 seems to be able to make it. So I would need another refueling stop. Any suggestions for that?

Ah, you're right @ostkamp. Over 2700 nautical miles does put it beyond the range of all of the E-Jet passenger airliners, although the Embraer Legacy 650 (included in the XCrafts XP11 ERJ family set but not in the free download, I believe) can make the flight direct. Looks like Natal, Brazil (SBSG) where I left off in the Concorde last week is actually about halfway there, 1533 nm for the first leg and 1208 for the second.

And you might need a stopover for the outbound flight from SBSJ to TNCM too. For this I'm going to recommend Santarém-Maestro Wilson Fonseca Airport (SBSN) which is pretty much exactly halfway to Sint Maarten, breaking it up into two legs of 1300 nm each.

Some scenery for the refueling stops (make sure to test these before starting long haul flights, in case of missing libraries):

Great flying with you all today! I started my flight in Rio de Janeiro but this time at the smaller Santos Dumont airport.

1190581138_phenom300-2023-02-1907_36_22.png.thumb.JPEG.cd5a3a53c6fd6421770cbadbbe12c226.JPEG1663837836_phenom300-2023-02-1908_11_24.png.thumb.JPEG.39146f997d968816cd622ebca3466bab.JPEG

There was a light rain falling as my Phenom 300 disappeared into the cloud layer. I think this was similar weather to our last visit to Rio.

781529681_phenom300-2023-02-1908_59_26.png.thumb.JPEG.da00a1539e12782fa7b8251bf3f4cc0c.JPEG85547329_phenom300-2023-02-1909_07_29.png.thumb.JPEG.02c712e1d4716fbeab02d62e8527b127.JPEG

Near Embraer Airport conditions improved a little bit with broken clouds around 4,000 feet. I followed the RNAV approach to runway 2 per the ATIS message. However, I realized on the ground that 20 would have been the better choice as the wind was 160 at 12 and the Embraer logo is on the short final.

442233878_phenom300-2023-02-1909_15_50.png.thumb.JPEG.498c7f8499f527a870d48c25ce95655e.JPEG967917403_phenom300-2023-02-1909_20_59.png.thumb.JPEG.daed96ef24c21fd534db7a8c582f63ad.JPEG

I still taxied down to the other end for a quick photo op before returning to parking with @MerlinEng. I also reinstalled the Bluebell CSLs this week, which appears to have fixed the textures on military aircraft. While I was at it, I installed the X-CSL packages as well to get the Phenom 300 CSL which we will see later.

1930837579_phenom300-2023-02-1910_08_04.png.thumb.JPEG.6168af276c30836b3df77d0b19c54e00.JPEG652088117_phenom300-2023-02-1910_20_40.png.thumb.JPEG.dd1b1a833208f30e46fa4aadb66d0af8.JPEG

After a short break, I started planning my flight to Sāo José dos Campos. It was a short 165 nm hop from Embraer airport.

1465693788_phenom300-2023-02-1910_45_36.png.thumb.JPEG.b08b922814436cfee0ca245ab9d62ce1.JPEG1314864712_phenom300-2023-02-1910_53_10.png.thumb.JPEG.5e7125fedd502ec81d70cb8f618843b6.JPEG

Others including @Quintao and @Vega66 were providing PIREPs on the heavy rain, so I was well prepared for the weather on the descent into Sāo José. Heavy rain, low visibility and moderate turbulence were present along with the distant flashes of lightning. I broke out about 1,000 ft AGL and took it manual down to runway 34 for a perfect landing. It is so rewarding to set the aircraft down on the center line without the slightest jolt. After clearing the runway I taxied to the transient parking where @Fatherofsam was in an iconic blue Phenom. That CSL looks nice!

1245690616_phenom300-2023-02-1910_54_20.png.thumb.JPEG.1813c3d1694152222b0d49c664f3606f.JPEG719791379_phenom300-2023-02-1910_55_03.png.thumb.JPEG.60d91d2333923944acd29c937505cd81.JPEG

Shortly after parking, @ostkamp made a butter landing on runway 16. In an EMB-135 from the looks of it?

See you next week in Canada!

Today I flew from Africa to Cabo Verde in the E175 which went OK. But by the time i'd learned the start up and did the flight it would have been too late to fly from ther to San Jose. So took off from Rio De Janeiro in the Phenom 300 for San Jose. I did the airport a favour and cut the grass next to the runway on landing.  I couldn't get the PTT on Teamspeak to engage on Mac even though it tested OK in the app. Also forgot to file a flight plan on first legs so I was invisble for them.

After parking up @chaser joined me

but still behind most of you. After a top up of the fuel I flew down to Sam Paulo, but no-one was there by then. This time a better but hard landing.

Looks that way. As I’m on Mac I have to use a keyboard hot key. It works on test. But I didn’t test without xp.

Sounds like macOS could be blocking it. Have you checked that TeamSpeak is allowed to use hotkeys in system preferences?

Thanks for the advise about posting the PIREP, which you gave me last week.  I have practiced and I can now do the
'single post' which is much nicer all 'round.

PIREP - CAPTAIN BINKY...So unlike you guys, I hadn't got the wings for a Transatlantic flight, not with the little Cessna I was flying last week ! :O(
So I called in a favour and got my old ship, the RRS Ernest Shackleton, to give me a lift across and drop me off in Brazil.
(I can credit the ship model to Jerry Scott of Indiana.  Great model).

PIREP 1.jpg

The Cessna on the transatlantic transport ...

Unfortunately, when I arrived, I got tied up in red tape and couldn't clear customs and excise in time for the fly-in.
( this is as realistic as flight-simulation can get ! :O)

So rather than miss out, I hired a rental plane from the FBO at Ubatuba on the coast and after an hour's check-ride,
was ready to depart for Sao Jose Dos Campos, on time.  The Baron 58 is a bit of a beastie to land and I was fighting
it all the way via  a stopover at Tabate military airport to practice those landings.  ( SBTA ).
PIREP 2.jpg

The nice rental plane ready to depart SDUB on the coast.

After a quick stop, I got back in the air with 'slightly modified' weather otherwise I may never have got down on arrival.
I suspected I would be arriving at the same time as you 'big boys', particularly @chad who co-incided with my earlier
arrival in Toulouse in France.   Whoops.

But as it happened, having done an standard overhead join ( I know.. that's Europe ! )  I descended down on the
deadside ahead of the arriving jets, and could come straight in for a Runway34 landing ... or so I thought !.

Coming down out of the clouds, I could not make out the runway VFR through the breaks in the clouds so announced
a 'go around'.  As I throttled up to go around, the airport came into view and I was able to continue with a normal approach !.

The approach was normal ... but the landing was not !  Despite my best efforts ... I broke a propellor !  Whaaaaaa. !
PIREP3.jpg

Taxiing off with a Broken Prop, after landing Runway 34 at Sao Jose Dos Campos.

PIREP4.jpg

Unfortunately, all my SCREENSHOTS failed to materialise, so I photoshopped a pic of me on the ramp without the other aircraft around
that should have been seen.

Taxiing to the ramp on one engine, I parked up next to @Quintao and put out an 'all traffic call' for anyone who had a
spare propellor ???  So whilst you guys were flying off to visit Sao Paulo and the likes, I spent the afternoon in the
workshop trying to get that propellor repaired.  Luckily the damage was superficial and they didn't have to pull the
engine, after the quick inspection.

So it was about 1700 UTC when I got back on the ramp and filed a flightplan BACK to Ubatuba, in time to get the
rental plane home as agreed.  Taking off ahead of @Fatherofsam we parted ways and I went easterly and had an
otherwise uneventful flight back to the coast.  I touched down to the start of a sunset and so those clouds weren't
a problem for my arrival.  I descended over the sea and had a nice ride back to land on the Runway 26 at SDUB.

A nice fly-in this week, but hope to spend more time on the ramp with you guys next week, if I can just stop
breaking the planes ! :O)

And once again. as they say in Brazil...   Obrigado !

What an Epic Fly-In today. Started very early at Cabo Verde, to perform the over than 7 hour leg direct to our destination, São José dos Campos.

image.thumb.jpeg.0d2dfd5b11917c1cc8b3ed6823a86042.jpeg

The leg was just on the limit for this standard A321 version, so had to limit TOW and cut the available seats to 30 passengers, to be on the safe side.  Quite an empty apron at this early sunday hour, which helped to expedite all necessary clearances and quickly depart.

image.thumb.jpeg.55a46126ab8769afba096958203fe1aa.jpeg

The timming was just great to arrive among the main group, performing a short holding pattern for safety spacing behind @Quintao. The weather conditions were poor over the field, overcast and with plenty of rain and thunderstorms, and although the wind was slightly favouring a R33 landing, I choose to keep the precision ILS approach and land on RWY16 as initially filed, which helped to pull out a safe and good landing in those bad conditions.
image.thumb.jpeg.afeb9e00b9ed1e736464301862f0cd9b.jpeg
Great rain effects, nicely replicating the feeling of a thunderstorm day.
image.thumb.jpeg.098bce242c5b317b26e914556f1898d2.jpeg
Taxied and parked next to Quintao.

image.thumb.jpeg.093d6016be6219f13411226873049a0d.jpeg

image.thumb.jpeg.8f31d5eb13939968ec4239ea834dcc90.jpeg

Following @Binky's example, switched to the default BE58 to pay a visit to some nearby sites, including the next Embraer base at Gaviao Peixoto, however not before a mandatory break. Still, time to wait for Binky to park and take a snapshot.
image.thumb.jpeg.f418eda09d6c1c37bbd106cfbdbadb7d.jpeg

Managed to speed up the break today, which was necessary to perform the about 400 nm tour with the Baron and still hope to preserve enough time and will to perform the leg towards the refueling stop at Princess Juliana. @rajo and @CHASMAN2014 were parked at the gates by the time I got cleared for departure.
image.thumb.jpeg.5f9f39d3b79fc9c16d47269d53f5d3f1.jpeg

First stop at SBKP, Viracopos, another large international airport aldo serving Sao Paulo.

image.thumb.jpeg.291e6cbbaa88351a9a996e8721835777.jpeg

Next, the Embraer Unit Gaviao Peixoto, SBGP.
image.thumb.jpeg.553bc8e40aac1451ad0824f12ddbaf84.jpeg
And finally, on the way back to Sao Jose, a stop at the more callenging SBJD Jundiai airport, with its smaller and elevated runway.
image.thumb.jpeg.5fe78fd2912222fda0e4b0499461705d.jpeg

Back to Sao Jose,
landed and parked near to @Kumiankkathat had landed shortly before, on a nice super Tucano fo the acrobatic team "esquadrilha da fumaca" colors.
image.thumb.jpeg.dc56a99903eac9e4e0a2269df24087d5.jpeg

We both waited for @surfintucson's 777, before switching again to the A321 to perform the leg towards Princess Juliana.
image.thumb.jpeg.bd65f0d606bf465ade2105929183314d.jpeg

Once again, the 2700+ nm flight required a very controlled weight for this A321-200 version. Between filing and boarding, managed to take a snap of Surf, Rajo and Kumi at the Gates:

image.thumb.jpeg.c8dbe37002b662880104796e181bcfb6.jpeg

Rajo and Kumi got clearance ahead. Here Kumi taking off while I was on the pushback just behind Surf.

image.thumb.jpeg.9e9212832c7162c9db9582c3795c2b30.jpeg

A shot taken from the X-flightserver map, just about 2 hours before destination, showing Quintao already parked at Princess Juliana, patiently awaiting.

image.thumb.jpeg.8cca98a4b3f0aef81281e2a8bb7dcf0f.jpeg

While I was a little ahead of Kumi and Surf, the selected STAR for the RNAV approach took me to a scenic tour over the island, adding an extra 90 miles of fun. Overall, managed to land between Surf and Kumi in a very well synchronized series of landings..
image.thumb.jpeg.5baf8e9f91397490f3309de782493642.jpeg
Finally grouped on the apron with Quintao for the final photos, closing this memorable day.

Greetings, Pilots!

@Quintao @Vega66 @rajo @Kumiankka
It has been a while since I was able to join a fly-in; real life had gotten busy and I haven't been flying much at all. And that showed today as I was a bit rusty. It had been so long that I did a little test yesterday to make sure all the software pieces still worked and found I needed to update Swift and XSwiftBus. Still on XP11 (hardware limitation but jeez those rain effects in XP12 look great); real time and weather throughout.

Started out late today so missed many of you, but RAJO, QUINTAO, VEGA and KUMI were still on. I started from SBSP for a short flight to SBSJ, taking the ol' 777 as it's pretty simple to configure and I know it the best of what's in my hangar.
1662359586_Speed-Bird-2023-02-199_34_08AM.jpg.3d74fb9b67d16a881809e954a3b1f033.jpg

Low clouds on approach to SBSJ and broke out at about 1600 feet and a little high on approach. Fortunately was at full flaps and slow so was able to get back down on slope. *Almost* forgot to put the gear down though and the "landing gear! landing gear!" annunciator was still going off as I neared the threshold. D'Oh!!

816107324_Speed-Bird-2023-02-1910_05_57AM.jpg.451819fb8e7983ad4ddbbc8ff4c790ba.jpg

Parked up a the terminal and was informed my CSL was not displaying properly. I had only set it in the Flightplan page of Swift not the Connect page. Resolved. Here with VEGA in foreground, then me, then RAJO in a nicely painted jet, then KUMI:

1827808330_Speed-Bird-2023-02-1910_21_05AM.jpg.d24b5f2c76dda559ef72a0ef1b1ceb50.jpg

While on the ground I heard VEGA and KUMI discussing making the flight to TNCM (QUINTAO was already en route). That's one of my favorite airports; so I called for the fuel truck and drew up a fast flightplan in LittleNavMap. Taxied out number two for departure. A lot of thrust and my climbout was sluggish. I thought maybe the extra fuel load but then realized I had been fighting maximum down trim--autopilot somehow engaged on takeoff and flying was much easier once I disabled that and reset neutral trim. Amazing how fast one can forget the details of flying when one has been away from the cockpit for some time.

Up to FL380, speed Mach 0.80 and flew north in close proximity to VEGA and KUMI. Not close enough to see out the window, but pretty close on the server map and the Swift Radar view. A long flight. RAJO dropped off as he was making money on FSE routes.

497280114_Speed-Bird-2023-02-1910_32_43AM.jpg.8d2ed5528b66482ef5b96e8a7d61415f.jpg

Long, relatively uneventful cruise (some disconnects/reconnects due to intermittent framerate fluctuations on my rig). Several hours of cruise. I was late because the typical peak fly-in time is pretty early in my timezone, but this flight to TNCM must have been pretty late for those in Europe (thanks for staying on).

Radios came alive again as we got near to Sint Maarten.
TBNCmap01.jpg.7da6209541a60a77203729e36e42c13c.jpg

Turned out I was number 1 to land. Flew out for a 10 mile final to runway 10. Winds 070 at 14, altimeter 3009. Rain and clouds. Descending, slowing. More rain and clouds. More descending. Broke under the cloud floor at 2200 feet but almost over the runway and way high. TOGO time. VEGA was flying a long approach and KUMI was in the VOR holding pattern. I stayed low, back out west to try again. Got in okay this time. Expedited the stop and turn off the runway, then taxied past QUINTAO and parked up at the terminal. Watched VEGA and KUMI come in and park up as well.

Great PIREP (and welcome) BINKY! @Binky
I love the shipping your plane--on a ship--across the Atlantic. Well done.
Hope you bought the supplemental insurance for that Baron on the rental contract! Just turn it back in minus one propeller; they won't even check. ;)
Surf, out.

Picked up this fly-in where I left off last week at GVAC, Amical Cabral in Cabo Verde on the Citation X.

AA-4lg-MHW7h-Hw.jpg

Departed RWY 01 and headed towards the cross-Atlantic flight.

AB-Qfb7-SYTzw-U.jpg

My original flight plan was to land at SBVC given the nice scenery I had installed, but since I still had about 90 minutes of fuel left, decided to inch further and land at SBCF since I heard on the news that there were 4.5M people celebrating Carnaval on the streets.

 AC-j4ar-PHWff-C.jpg

AD-gofx3-OQV2q.jpg

AE-ih-Jp0-Wp-Zg-L.jpg

Parked for the day and went to join the crowd!

cris-1-jpeg.jpeg?f=3x2&w=1224 \

Next morning, fly-in day, departed SBCF from the same RWY 16 I landed the day before.

AF-Pe7wlmcnqt.jpg

AG-xn-OWfy-NLOt.jpg

Goodbye Belo Horizonte!

AH-0-YVRS5-NISm.jpg

This is where the favorable weather ended, as per the other Pirep's, visibility, turbulence, and heavy rain were the norm around São Paulo and São José dos Campos. Not surprisingly, that heavy rain caused real live land-slides and flood with fatalities, very unfortunate. Landed at RWY 34 (on the scenery 33).

AI-l58-U7-PJYb-X.jpg

AK-Ts-Lq4hgg-WM.jpg

@Vega66 was next to land at RWY 16 on the A321.

AJ-8-Z7io5-PHLb.jpg

@rajo and @Binky also arrived at SBSJ and can be seen further on the ramp while I was taxing back to RWY 34.

@CHASMAN2014 landed right on a legacy TAM livery when I was reviewing the charts for my flight to São Paulo. Had to be quick on the camera trigger and ended up taking a picture of my previous flight plan as well.

The flight SBSJ-SBSP was under heavy rain the entire time.

Parked and went inside the FBO to check on the weather conditions and decide what to do next.

AS-p-Expi3dxwn.jpg

Given the weather, decided to fly straight to TNCM and skip the secondary location at SBGP. Used the new dispatch interface on SimBrief to plan the route, given the distance, this was going to be a ferried flight, no passengers or cargo loaded on the C750.

Departed the RWY 17R under heavy rain.

I forgot to reset my camera area, so my next pictures came truncated. Both departing SBSP and flying over St Barth on the arrival at TNCM. I didn't have any scenery installed on X-Plane 12 for the Caribbean, so this is the default gateway. I'll fix it for next week's flight.

Landed at TNCM and parked next to the main terminal.

@Vega66, @Kumiankka and @surfintucson were on their way, so I stayed connected for the group picture.

Yes I did that last week. But need to check again.  Cheers

My problem with TeamSpeak is that, unlike Discord, I cannot assign a Joystick button to PTT.

Have to use the keyboard shortcut can be problematic during busy periods.

True. When I first set it up I had inadvertently assigned the same key as "reverse thrust" in XP. That made for some fun times. Now I have F1 assigned, which is fine except if I happen to be in LittleNavMap when I hit it, then it opens up several dozen browser windows to LNM's help page. I'm too lazy to look for a completely unassigned key so I just deal with that. <g>

"Epic fly-in" is right @Vega66, that last leg to St Maarten turned into practically an all-nighter. I still feel like I could've used some more sleep…

Awesome XP12 shots @Quintao, the colors look so much nicer. And great to have @surfintucson back after a while!

phenom300 - 2023-02-19 14.56.51.jpg

Continued from where I left off last week in Natal, Brazil, not in the Concorde but the Aerobask Phenom 300. Initial USB issues with the yoke led to an aborted takeoff from runway 12, but fortunately the problem was nothing a simple unplug/replug couldn't fix, and I was quickly on my way, able to take off from the opposite direction.

The first of the long hauls today, a three-and-a-half hour cruise south along the Brazilian coast

phenom300 - 2023-02-19 18.19.38.jpg

Despite the low overcast, the approach to São José was quite scenic, especially with the custom scenery installed.

phenom300 - 2023-02-19 18.24.53.jpg

@CHASMAN2014 arrived a bit later and performed a very impressive short landing, making the first turnoff

emb314 - 2023-02-19 18.47.28.jpg

Next I switched to the BFDG Super Tucano. Not quite the colorful aerobatic livery in @Vega66's shot, but a black house paint with the Embraer logo. Technical problems continued to mount however, leading to another aborted takeoff - unbelievably the sidestick had locked up too, a symptom of flying another payware aircraft previously, and resolved with a sim restart.

emb314 - 2023-02-19 18.49.15.jpg

After disentangling those controls I was finally able to get airborne and get started on some aerobatic stunts. Had to give up on an earlier plan to visit Gavião Peixoto and the other factory airfield, as I was starting to suspect I might not have much extra time left over...

Quick flyby of runway 33…

emb314 - 2023-02-19 18.54.44.jpg

emb314 - 2023-02-19 19.05.23.jpg

Landed just before @Vega66 and @surfintucson, the latter just arriving here. For some reason the Swift client keeps defaulting people to these fighter jets, Surf was actually already in his big 777 here.

E195 - 2023-02-19 19.26.09.jpg

Surf fixed his CSL issues while I switched to the XCrafts E195 for the long haul to TNCM. Got too lazy to wait for the pushback and used the thrust reversers to power back instead.

E195 - 2023-02-19 19.31.00.jpg

Lineup for the group departure: holding short while @rajo takes off for another destination, followed by @surfintucson and @Vega66 (@Quintao already had a massive head start, having wisely started out a lot earlier)

E195 - 2023-02-19 19.32.51.jpg

Thanks to the very light passenger load, even the full fuel tanks didn't prevent the E-Jet from performing a very steep climbout.

E195 - 2023-02-19 19.59.39.jpg

Took a detour via Gavião Peixoto on the way out, but nothing could be seen through the thick cloud cover.

E195 - 2023-02-19 21.43.46.jpg

Soon enough we were all at FL380 for the long, six-hour cruise north to the Caribbean. The formation looked tight enough on the map, but there were actually enough miles between us that I didn't get a visual on either Vega or Surf during the whole cruise, just indications on the moving map.

E195 - 2023-02-19 22.44.18.jpg

Santarém along the Amazon River was my go/no-go decision point for the direct flight to St Maarten. I still had more than half of the initial fuel remaining, so we were good to go.

E195 - 2023-02-19 23.47.02.jpg

The sun set as we passed the South American coast around Guyana. Stronger headwinds also started appearing around this time, but it was no longer enough to delay us by more than about 15-30 minutes.

E195 - 2023-02-20 01.39.37.jpg

We all arrived in St Maarten very close one after another - I decided to fly one lap around a holding pattern at the VOR for some extra separation. @surfintucson was the first of us on the approach, his landing lights can be seen to the left, emerging from the low clouds.

E195 - 2023-02-20 01.44.52.jpg

Dark skies, rain and turbulence made for quite a ride as I began the VOR approach. At this late hour, pilot fatigue might have been even more of a factor, had it not been for those delicious cream-filled laskiaispulla pastries I had for coffee.

E195 - 2023-02-20 01.48.08.jpg

A nighttime version of the low approach over the beach

E195 - 2023-02-20 01.49.19.jpg

With a wet runway and strong crosswinds, I needed all of the runway available, but didn't end up going off-road this time

Arriving at the terminal for the final group photo-op with @Quintao, @surfintucson and @Vega66 (buried inside the static KLM 747)

Hello fellow armchair pilots,

what a lengthy trip this was.

Nice to meet you again @surfintucson , looking forward for more epic funny PIREPs 😀

@Binky Great idea to organize a ship transport for the aircraft.😁

Thanks to @Kumiankka for suggesting the additional fuel stops on the way to SBSJ.

I intentionally wanted to fly the E-195 and spent half an hour or more trying to get the engines running but I must have missed something important. I have absolutely no problem starting the Family jets like the Embraer Legacy 650, but here just got the ITT heated up but nothing on N1 or N2 that would keep on running. After that time I gave up on it and loaded a Legacy, here showing up at GVAC airport.

yimage00001.jpg

At this time @Big-IN aka Dino5 was still on his way to GVAC and needed to refuel there later as well.

Departed GVAC for SBSG (Natal) at cruise altitude FL360 with Mach 0.77 on TimeWarp.
yimage00002.jpg

yimage00003.jpg

yimage00004.jpg

SBSG runway in sight.
yimage00005.jpg

Landed there, got refueled immediately and after a cup of coffee, we departed again.
yimage00006.jpg

Near destination SBSJ  I was initially on auto pilot but then came in a bit too high and had to take manual controls.
yimage00007.jpg

Nevertheless I managed ti get a butter landing this time, as  @F5Chaser correctly monitored, and yes it was a Legacy 650 which is a more powerful Luxury version of the ERJ 135 with extended range.
yimage00008.jpg

yimage00009.jpg

yimage00010.jpg

yimage00011.jpg

At the end I got some trouble with reversers. Maybe they shutdown themselves at some point, not sure about this. Sometimes I applied a bit more power, but then unintentionally not for reverse but regular thrust. I managed to get it under control before reaching end of runway though.
yimage00012.jpg

Although I was using max. TimeWarp for both legs, many others seemed to have left off already.
yimage00013.jpg

@Big-IN aka Dino5 landed later in his Tu-444 shown as Tu-144.
yimage00014.jpg

yimage00015.jpg

Also got to see @CHASMAN2014
yimage00016.jpg

@Big-IN is here unfortunately shown on top of a dynamically placed autoget aircraft visible only for me.
yimage00017.jpg

The remaining trip to another refueling stop and then TNCM was too much to be flown that same day, have to do this later the week.

See you in St. Maarten next time.🙂

Meanwhile will be consulting checklist for E175 and E195 and hope I can get rid of the cold / coughing causing some fatigue.

In my last pirep you can see that 3 attempts to get from LFBO to GVAC failed, Here now the successful attempt. Including Simbrief FP

image.thumb.jpeg.998041ff26ce03784190549b3b717182.jpeg

It had turned out that the XP12 versions of the JAR jets A332 and A345 contain a great risk of failure during longer, partly unattended flights. Then I tried the ToLiss A319: CTD after 2h. So the ToLiss A321, which I have long appreciated for its reliability,

image.thumb.jpeg.5b7b86a5dd61609008a14c4b7c80c533.jpeg

As you can see in the Flight History, I overslept T/D and therefore had to make a great effort to land with the rest of the fuel. If I had made only one small mistake, I would have inevitably landed in the sea
