  1. yeah Correct. But as you say: Its been a wild west sometimes. And now finally there is coming some principles and requirements into play. So as a costumer I really should be able to trust the product Im buying. And as a costumer Im actually have right to get good answers also on performance and quality. This tradition that has been about countless hours of tweaking my computer to make some products work as intended - that era must be gone I believe. regards SkyChek

  3. Exactly like that. Its a natural evolvement to make this feature. Then its up to dev´s to deliver and make dreams come true regarding XP flightsim community. But I sure hope there will be enough room for gateway too. The default aircrafts and scenerys are getting more and more advanced. Its not only about training and educating newcomer devs. Its also about thinking big - like what the future has to offer in XP compared to other parts of gaming industry. In my thinking there is room in XP for a number of aircrafts. But if you want them to be as close to IRL as possible - then there is going to need to be a lift in both knowledge and features among dev´s. Its already come a long way since XP11. But I say its equally long way ahead. The newer default scenerys are working very nice and very efficient with updated artassets - but are using a very old rendering system. I wonder for how long it is really possible to tweak this any further. Other parts of gaming industry are already in startphases of completely new rendering engines. So yes. I do believe it will become a great evolvement ahead. regards SkyChek

  8. Hello! This airport has many errors. The ground mesh is not working correctly and of some reason buildings are removed. Attached you find a zipfile that contains my edits and fixes. There is now buildings, working jetways, taxiways has been corrected, parkinglot added, Lines corrected. However this is not a finished product, but at least you are able to fly in with very good performance. This airport still needs to be fixed by a creator. Enjoy! OPIS Scenery pack.zip
  9. Hello. I would find a VA or an app that registers the flight hours in total together with a MEL planning tool. I know there is one or 2 out there, but right now I dont remember their names. Im also part of Nomadic VA that do ferryflights and real Boeing MEL-checks on B738. That is very inetersting and a lot to learn. In their discord there is a maitenance checklist based on wear and tear and individual flight reports. I found the Nomadic VA through ThresholdX. Im at work so sorry cant provide witha link.   10. Yes. There is Simbrief integration. But you need to sort your simbrief Zibo airfoil to match ZFW and equipment, because VPT use real Boeing data for weight/balance as Zibo mod does. When I started with VPT I had to read the manual a couple of times to understand the correct order of making a correct calculation. You first start out with selecting the VPT engine you are going to use. Then Find the correct aircraft to use, and then which variant of Zibo mod. Go to weights and balance. Then you can import from simbrief using that airfoil that matches VPT. This way you will get 99% accuracy inside Zibo mod EFB setup and FMC Initpage. When I have those filled in I do the VPT calculation and fill in the numbers into FMC TO page. Dont forget to set your TOCG.(its easy to forget) On every flight I get a perfect TO roll and initial climbrate. Other advantages of VPT is the possibility to do runway entry takeoffs, and on landings even calculate what runwayexit to use. It is even shown on a "smart" chart. The big advantage is also the conciderations of penalties and runway conditions, plus you get a EOT. Good luck! regards SkyChek
  11. Roughly right is what you get in VAS, little navmap and PMDG. However: If Zibo implements this - then Im also counting on thousands of posts claiming "bug" in Zibo mod. Because those calcs will never be enough for some people. Dont forget it is also required to calculate EOT in these apps. Just because there is blingbling on some aircrafts doesnt mean you can trust them. Im also thinking when we go on world tour and have to handle high altitude TOs and landings. Those calcs will not meet up any requirements. So, Yes Im sorry. We have different views about this. And why should Zibo settle for something other than the best? Especially when the tools already are out there. regards SkyChek
  12. No. I have been using VPT virtual performance tool now for six months. And I can tell you about the amount of massive workload there is to invoke databases for each airport, as well aircrafts and types of aircraft registrations. They are all unique when it comes to weight/balance and engine performances. The real Boeing OPT is costly but also most accurate, and for us simmers the VPT is closest to the Boeing OPT regarding quality and accuracy. And for us it is also very manageble in cost. The other app´s that are used in PMDG, VAS, little navmap and more - are all finetuned FMC calculators. They also lack in actual data of NOTAMs and AIPs. The Boeing OPT and also VPT is not. They are standalone but use databases of actual aircraft registrations, AIP NOTAMs, WX data from 3 or 4 different sources. And to be accurate that is actually needed. So basically to ask Zibo to invoke a integrated performance calculator is like asking to put in assisted steering device on a motorcycle. At best you will get a finetuned FMC calculator. The amount of correct data is way more than you think and requires constant updating when new AIRACs and AIP NOTAMs are updated.
  13. And yes mr Janov: I forgot to write how much I really appreciate doing submissions to gateway. It has been an amazing journey of knowledge for me. I also like very much all the documentation that is done here in forum. If I may suggest, we should need some more collaborated knowledge into a wiki of some sort. I know ThresholdX are currently working on a wiki like that, but I feel that is for more highly skilled people than me. I have asked for more basic editing articles - but as usual the time of life interfere and it may take some time to accomplish. Another thing I believe is really benafiting the gateway community is sometimes "training" sessions sort of Q&A on live Youtube, discord or similar. That way it will become so much easier for LR for push for the correct way of editing scenerys. In my view better knowledge is the answer. regards SkyChek
  14. Thanks for responce! Yes. Im aware of all this. I have recieved a perfectly good answer by X-Coder already. And he tells me that under current technology it is not possible to do such conversions into WED. You can extract a colored selection in photoshop and save it as a polygon vector in a SVG-file. But it is not possible to convert and import into WED. There is no such technology yet. That have to be a future project. And even if it was possible, its still a lot of work of scaling and most surtain without any holes in the vector. And yes! Too many nodes makes it sometimes very hard to edit in WED. And I just love the way beziercurves gets smoothly around corners. Very easy and very nice! It took a while but finally I managed to only use 2 nodes for a full taxiwaycurve. Even only one sometimes. Regarding cracks and seams, I just wonder how much I need to put in. I know airports are very dirty sometimes, but I find the built in "worn" very handy and good working. Actually Im more concerned over how to better and more efficiently convert non-aircraft-lines to Lines. Sometimes on igger airports its quite a lot to convert. I just wich there was some sort of searchfunction for white lines only."Airport Line Feature" and "white". That way its so much easier to find and select those nonaircraftlines. And yes. They do not joint perfectly. But. I have found that if I "attach" or "snap" them together - they also stay like that with much better precision. Thanks for the responce!"   15. Im sorry. But that cant be. Im not using their imagery. Only to extract a vectorised path with some nodes in it. In the world of art that happens all the time. Even by famous people like Banksy. the purpose was to be able to extract a path used for taxiway or draped polygon. Thats all.
  16. Thanks for responce! Very kind! Yes. Im fully aware of all this. As I wrote, Im only using Ortho4XP as references, nothing else. And I fully agree about excessive vertices. It is very annoying sometimes. I have read all the documentations in gateway and here in forum, I am part of ThresholdX scenery wikigroup, and I already have 28 scenerys approved in gateway since november. But still. Im looking for a more effective and profficient way or method to delete old taxiways and replace them with something new. Beziercurves I usually eat for breakfast, so thats no issue at all. So when Im aiming to create new taxiway, I also look for at more "semi" automated work-process of using photoshop(or similar) to scan and create vectors of detailed taxiways, and then make those imported in WED hopefully. Thats why my question. Im almost convinced it is possible, but dont really know how. I really have some more questions of making automated conversions of Airport Line feature´s into Lines too. Thats is also something worth spending time on better efficiency and lighter workload. Today I do this all manually. So Im just looking for some answers and knowledge about this. I mean today its even possible to extract Google Earth kml´s into buildings, and even using UV-mapping. But its still difficult to match up with good taxiways for default scenerys?   17. Hello. Im currently editing some airports with the purpose to submit to gateway. Quite often I encounter that the older default taxiways or draped polygons are way off ESRI maps or underlaying reference orthos/images. And that makes me want to create new textures to replace these. However: This usually takes up a LOT of time with all curves to fit in, part the aircraft moving areas and part the nonaircraft moving areas. So my big questions is probably not new, but still I need an answer: Is it possible to use for instance photoshop to create vectorised surfaces and then convert them to polygons(.pol) that Im able to use/import into WED? That means its very timesaving to use the Photoshop scan features of colorised areas to create vectorised surfaces. But I want to use them in WED as taxiways or draped polygons. This way I do not have to create Ortho4XP or other guidanceimages as references when Im editing. Of course I still have to do scaling or manual finetuning. But I still need to know if its possible to do? Since it will save me a lot of effforts. regards SkyChek

  19. yes. I started to submit scenerys to gateway in beginning of november -23. I know the struggles ahead. First of all you need to know more of how X-plane works with scenerys. Myself I started with small edits in small airports of the greek islands. My first gateway approved scenery I went out and bought myself some coffee and chokladen to celebrate. Keep editing the smaller scenerys because its on those you are going to make mistakes, and dont have to remake the whole airport to start over just because things doesnt work anymore. Read. Read. and again read all the documentations here in forum and gateway.x-plane.com ! Besides asking questions here in forum, the tutorials and documentations are your best friends in need. Dont take NO for an answer. Not even from triplemon. All of us with a bit more experience have obligations to check up and give good answers. Provide with knowledge. I know I have been very fortunate with collaborations. The document DO´s and DONT´s in gateway NOTAMS are almost mandatory reading. My personal hardest thing right now is to find proper and actual airport charts, the national publications could sometimes be hard to find. But thats the most secure and accurate information you can get. The keys that unlock the secret vaults of x-plane and maybe even triplemon, Janov, Julian, Connor, and several others - is knowledge and asking what you need to know and where to find it. Good luck!
