Hoxton Park (YHOX) was constructed during WWII as an emergency and training field. After the war the runway was shortened and the airfield used for training and mainly GA aircraft.
The airfield closed permanently on 15 December 2008. Nothing remains of the airfield and the area is now covered with large warehouses.
I have recreated the airfield from some aerial images of the airfield just before it closed although I have used some artistic license!.

Bloody beauty, that bright green made the aerodrome stand out much more than in real life. I appreciate your work, thank again.

I've just downloaded the update, thank you for that. Looking forward to seeing it as it used to be 'back when'. At least we have the runway useable again, great job!

G'day Netman, it's great to have YHOX back, thank you! I flew from there for a few years prior to it closing. Like others, I'd prefer to see the grass looking a more natural colour if you can manage that. The eastern border was lined with trees and I don't recall ever seeing a gravel track along there. I'll forgive your 'poetic licence' with the buildings but, should you ever want to do a correct depiction I have photos taken by students/passengers. Again, thanks for your effort and time.

Thanks for your comments. The good news is that I have managed to remove the fluorescent grass introduced by a change made in SU5. The gravel track that you refer to is not of my making. It is due to Asobo autogen. Whilst I have managed to cover over most of the industrial estate, there are things that I am unable to remove. I hope that you enjoy flying into Hoxton Park. Regards.

Thanks so much for providing this. I recall during my flight training many years ago for my PPL (out of Bankstown) heading over to Hoxton Park and doing some solo touch and go's and the cross wind was so severe that day that I decided to cut it a bit short and come in as I thought I was going to lose it! I'm happy to have it installed, even though I know it isn't there anymore. One thing I wanted to ask is that in the sim for me, the grass areas are really bright green - not like what is in your photos. Is this normal or do I have some setting messed up or a file missing?
Cheers

Thanks for your kind words and for letting me know about the grass texture. I opened YHOX up today and all looked as it does in the original pictures. However, when I turned developer mode off to take a picture, the grass turned an almost fluorescent green. As the grass is a standard Asobo grass, I can only guess that it is something that has happened post SU5. I have reported the issue to Asobo and will rectify once I get a solution.

thank you yes I too had my first lot of lessons heere at Hoxton Park and then wnt onto to Bankstown. Yes there was a grass runway along side of the tar one it was used from time to time. There was also night lighting that could be switched on as sometimes we would do night flights to maitland. It should never have closed it was a great place for a beginner pilot where you could just practice without messy airspace. Mind you I had a plane almost crash into me on my very first solo when I was downwind I think it was 36 from memory but I could see the wheels on the offending plane passing over the top of me as I screamed Holy S**T. Now to this day I don't know who was at fault it might have been him or it may have been that I was so excited I forgot my circuit height but at least we did not collide and my next circuit I was really watching things heart beating fast and all!

Thanks for bringing Hox back. I had my first solo there and spent many happy hours there with the Jabiru Flying School. FYI there was a grass strip between the tarmac runway and the trees. Also the helicopters used an area between the tarmac and the buildings as another grass strip. Great shame when it was turned over to developers.

Thanks for your comments. Whilst doing my research on Hoxton Park I came across one image that appeared to show a grass runway as you describe but I couldn't confirm it on other images or in any written pieces. It is always good to hear from someone with first hand knowledge so when I next rebuild Hoxton Park I will definitely add the grass runway. Many thanks.
