May Day, Library in the Park & Graduation!

Our school year is coming to an end, and we are happy to celebrate together outside at Lake Edge Park from 1-2 pm on May 22nd. In an effort to bring our library out to our students and community members, we are bringing books from Harry Potter, to toddler story books for borrowing. We would love to invite past, future and current students along with the German Speaking Community to stop by, buy a German pretzel and see the products of our May Day crafts. Willkomen!

2020 School Year

We are ramping up! Its been a long summer of researching the updated guidelines for our Youth Programs, but we are happy to announce that German Instruction WILL return this fall starting on Saturday October 3rd! We are finalizing our plans to provide a mix of in person German lessons in an outdoor setting, prerecorded YouTube and Google classroom lessons and a mix of ZOOM meetings. We are planning our instruction specifically for each age group to provide the best delivery and keep our students speaking German throughout the year. Registration will open by the last day of August, so keep us in your thoughts and your plans! We look forward to seeing you all again soon. Stay Tuned!

Congratulations, 2020 Graduates!

We are proud that all of our students completed another year of class! Thank you for a wonderful school year and the flexibility of our students and teachers with the transition to online school.

We were sorry we couldn’t hold our end-of-the year graduation party and sent everyone off into the summer in person this year. We’re planning for what classes might look like when we return in the fall and we’d love to hear your thoughts – you can email Nancy, the School’s Administrator here. In addition, the board has collected feedback in a survey and we will keep in touch and let you know as we have updates to share.

Don’t forget our resources section that can help with keeping up with your German learning efforts over the summer, including some new great live readings by some of our board members and students!

Take care and stay healthy, and we’ll see you in the fall!

Nikolausfest 2019

Our Nikolausfest was wonderful!  First the children arrived after an early release from  school and did a tree making or snowflake making activity.  The older children quickly started making large and sparkly paper airplanes to test out in the large event hall. 🙂

We were entertained by a lovely Christmas story with our German St. Nik, and both a  performance and sing along with the Wisconsin Chamber Choir.  Link to their upcoming events here.  We are grateful for the German music that the choir provides every year!! And we think they appreciate our German Potluck, as they always stay for dinner after the singing!

Speaking of German food, we were also so very grateful to Clasen’s European Bakery for their huge donation of German Breads!  Our German  school parents and children all loved it, and our celebration was jolly and German enough for all!

Laternenfest 2019

We have had some many great events this year, and some of the best pictures too!  Our newest board member has a shutterbug for a partner, and we have a number of fun pictures to post!  Our Laternenfest was wonderful, with 3 fire pits, a special Stock Brot from a dear German School Mom who helped us cook it over the fire, lovely sausages to cook and many other treats that parents brought.  The highlight as always was our parade through the neighborhood with lanterns and traditional songs!
