The Chakeri Air Force Station, known as the Kanpur Airport, initially served as a military facility exclusively designated for the Indian Air Force. The nomenclature ‘Chakeri Air Force Station’ endures as a testament to its military origins. The recently inaugurated Chakeri Airport’s new terminal covers an expansive area of 6250 square meters. It features an advanced Instrument Landing System (ILS), facilitating nighttime landings in Kanpur. Notably, the new terminal dwarfs its predecessor, being 16 times larger. Regarding passenger capacity, the upgraded facility is designed to efficiently accommodate more than 400 passengers, a significant enhancement from the existing capacity of merely 50.
