Welcome to the third production sale for Four Starr Genetics in Eugene, Missouri. It is a great time to be involved in the Fleckvieh seedstock business. The Fleckvieh breed is experiencing increased growth, demand and market share for this great breed of cattle that excel in all facets of the industry. I would like to thank our consignors in this sale for their diligence and hard work in offering a genuinely great set of genetics. We are extremely excited about the depth of quality of the cattle. We have always placed emphasis on the maternal side of things and have applied pressure on traits such as fleshing ability, fertility, udder quality and structural soundness. Once again, we are digging deep and offering a handful of elite cows, along with a group of heifers that I am extremely proud to offer for your evaluation. I always enjoy seeing and visiting with our repeat customers and meeting new people in the business. The cattle have been vaccinated with IBR, BVD-2, PI3, BRSV(kld)-Vibrio-L5HB, BlackLeg Vision 7 & Pinkeye and treated with Long Range Injectable Dewormer and Corathon flytags. Missouri is officially classified as free of Brucellosis and TB. Cattle that will be crossing the border into Canada or Mexico will remain on the farm until proper health papers can be generated.

pick of the Herd Bull Prospects This is a great opportunity to pick from our fall bull pen, which includes our keeper pen, where our next herd bulls come from. Here is a rare opportunity to have a 1st choice! I will start by saying how important it is to create outcross genetics that will be the next bull to leave a positive mark on the industry. Here at Four Starr we use a lot of older bulls and it is always a gamble if the semen is good and if they will produce marketable cattle. Also, we continually breed horned to polled in order to produce those polled cattle with different pedigrees. This is a long and tedious process as half of that offspring will be horned. Now in saying that, lets describe some of these prospects. Udet was that bull we decided to sample and wow the results are in and it paid off. The two polled Udet sons go back to Anchor T Lolita and have 94% horned genetics. Udet x SAF 73H x King Arthur x Eisenherz x Westdrums Andrew x Anchor T Lolita. The other Udet is all horned genetics and goes back to Haxl and Marita, and just keeps getting thicker and thicker. Then you have three sons of Load Hafkenberg out of FSS Brimescent which are all full sibs to FSS Quantavius. Lots of Bone and muscle on these siblings. One of my favs is an ET out of Balist and our premier donor S84. His disposition is outstanding.

FSS Quantavius

Quantavius is a rare polled son of FLEC&FMS Load Hafkenberg. Going back to SH Ms. Panda. Only 3% polled heritage in his pedigree. The first calves have arrived, and he is proving to be a calving ease sire, producing dark red pigmented, performance calves. Only collected 250 total units on Quantavius to maintain exclusivity on his offspring. The majority was sold to Australia, so take note of the females bred to him in our sale as his calves will have added value in the Fleckvieh industry. Excellent disposition and soundness of structure with added bone and depth of heal. His a unique, bold, and different with a phenotype and genotype to back it up.

Putting this bull into words is a pleasure. Stratosphere undeniably has my favorite dam, S84, then add perfect feet structure, added bone and ruggedness, sogginess and a great disposition. Stratosphere’s dam exemplifies true Fleckvieh type as the most outstanding Solway Adonis I have ever had the privilege to witness. Superb udder, feet, structure and a noble pedigree stemming from Adrahan Fenella.

I am always very hesitant on some of the homozygous polled bulls being offered to the industry and feel the only reason they made it there was for a single trait (polled). So, I really wanted to test Dominion first. Well, those results have come in with his first calf crop this spring. I must say he knocked it out of the ballpark!!! Consistency in every category: unbelievable muscle and growth, calving ease, length, disposition, dark cherry red, and all have symmetrical goggle eyes. Only 6% polled heritage, diluter free and homozygous polled. I am sold on Dominion! Cannot wait to see more out of him.

Schlossberg had a huge following on Facebook, and very likely due to his immense amount of sheer volume and muscle. Gentle and easy going, he was used with the fall calving herd this past winter and semen was collected to preserve his rare genetics. Rickards was a result of a purchased embryos from Darrell Maronda. Rickards grew like a weed and matured so quickly that he collected excellent quality semen at 9 months of age. Rickards is a bull that rose to the top of his class and put himself in a league of his own. When this happens, business is easy. He was always an impressive son of Rickardstown Jumbo and his dam was a Takar x DFM Kathy Ann (King Arthur) and these calves embody the essence of her. Rickards was massively deep, soft, wide based, moderate framed, and extremely quiet.

FSS Horatio

Horatio’s pedigree reads: Hamlet x SAF 73H x Siegfried x Hackenberg x Bold x Adrahan Fenella. I was really excited about Horatio, and he died way to young, but luckily had collected semen prior. Horatio’s full sister, Ophelia, is one of the most amazing brood cows. I’m glad he is in the semen tank. His calves should come easy and have loads of performance.

FSS King Arthus Opus

Opus and Chablis were full brothers.Sold Chablis to the Blair brothers and then he went to Billy Greer after that. Opus was sold to Jay Hunt and luckily, I had collected semen before he left. Opus was the darker cherry red King Arthur son with more growth and power and quite a bit flashier than Chablis. He was my favorite of the two bulls. Opus’s dam 44N never missed and she turned out multiple great cattle, a testament to the Adrahan Fenella cow family.

FSS Future Frontier

Future Frontier is a rare Camus Frontier son and from day one he was impressive. His dam, Tryon Gabi, really set the bar high. Future Frontier was sold to the Chinese to produce exportable semen. The calves born will be the first in the U.S. His full sister has a daughter in the sale, check her out. I am looking forward to adding his genetics into the herd.

FSS Studly Do Right

Studly Do Right is an accumulation of some superior older genetics. I used Heywood Bigfoot on a Westdrums Andrew x Ms JMC Kerstin (Hafke x Lilli-Marlen) and the result was this beautifully hipped and structural correct bull with a ton of thickness and eye-catching appeal. I love the little different twist he adds, and I am excited to see his calves.

Dora Lee Red Knight

Red Knight and his full sister both graced our pastures and helped lay a foundation of King Arthur based genetics. Ross Small certainly produced some good cattle and the King Arthur x Hetal mating was a good one. Pray you get a Red Knight calf. They are good.
