How to Eat & Cut the “STINKIEST” Fruit in the World – DURIAN.

DURIAN for a surprise.

Let me clarify, this is one of my favorite fruits. It’s not for everyone nor is it for the faint of heart though, fair warning.

Durian is also known as the king of fruits in southeast Asia where it’s mostly grown. You can’t miss it at any Asian market because it is huge, spiky, and stinky!

Growing up eating Durian I never minded does the smell. But a lot of people will tell you it smells pretty bad, I think to those that are accustomed to the fruit I think it just smells like a sweet custard. It also taste like that. But I do notice if you let it sit out for a couple days in the fridge it does tend to get Danker lol so I recommend eating it as soon as you can!

Picking a durian can be tricky as it’s often frozen when we buy them because it’s hard to grow them in the US. What I tend to go for are durian‘s with convex size. So what I mean by that is that it’s more rounded and sticks out versus dent in. Growing up this was an indicator that the Durian had a lot of fruit! It’s hard picking a ripe one sometimes because they were mostly frozen and if you were to ever buy a fresh durian it’s ultra expensive! But the frozen ones also taste really good

Here’s a video below how I open one!
