File Description: Hawkesbury is in Ontario a couple of miles from the Québec border. It is a very important field for gliders. The scenery is by Léon Louis and the thermals which extend from Hawkesbury area to Elmira NY are the work of W.Bomball. Thanks Bill. There are many candies on this field like static gliders in the air. It adds life to the scenery. These files should work fine in FS2002 as well.

File Description: Hicks Farm is in Ontario and around 8 miles west of Rideau Valley Airpark CPL3 (which did not appear in FS9, probably because it was then mainly used by gliders, but is a post of mine). CPL3 is 15 miles south of Ottawa Airport, tucked into a right angle bend of the Rideau River. Ultimate Terrain puts the river into place, and I am not sure of how or if either CPL3 or CF12 work without UT, maybe somebody can let me know. Fly west from CPL3 along the river and Hicks Farm will be on the south side. It has a (mainly) grass runway 34/16 with a section of asphalt and totals some 5,500 feet overall. Alan, the owner of Hicks Farm, is in his mid 80's and was told last year that his insurance company no longer felt comfortable with him flying his Lear off a farm strip. The result of his enforced retirement from flying his Lear is that the grass has been allowed to take over somewhat, though there is still sufficient space to land most single engine light aircraft.

File Description: This airfield is in the Columbia Mountains (which are part of the Rockies) on the border between BC and Alberta. Invermere is in the same valley as Golden, 65 miles south and midway between Golden and Cranbrook. The town is at the northern end of Lake Windermere, on the western side, with a population of around 3,400. The main touristic feature of Invermere appears to be the provision of a wide choice of golf courses. These are included in the scenery, as are some of the surrounding commercial buildings including a nearby hotel and retail units. Invermere CAA8 is half a mile northeast of the lake, and is home to the non-profit Canadian Rockies Soaring Club that trains pilots during the summer months. The Invermere Soaring Centre, a separate organisation, provides glider towing services and rides for the general public. During the summer the airfield can only be described as busy, with gliders taking advantage of the terrain for ridge soaring. The AI here includes gliders that will take off and then circle around north of the field. The take off is not a realistic glider style launch, and the wind should be from the north; these gliders do not taxi and then turn around at the far end of a runway too well. Once again, like Golden, there is no runway or taxiway lighting, so daylight use only. There are GA visitors to CAA8 between the gliders, presumably carrying golfers and clubs. Due to the surrounding terrain AI aircraft might impact high ground before landing and then just show up on their parking spot.

File Description: Ith Soaring adds 3 real gliderports, a virtual NDB and ridge, wave and thermal lift to
fs2004.
Wolfgang Piper's gliders available at avsim highly recommended.
This scenery is NOT recommended for fs2002 though it functions somehow.
The Ith mountain range is some 20 nm south of Hannover EDDV and rises up to 1000ft AGL providing all sorts of lift on a ridgeline of some 30 km.
Startup flight included. May the lift be with you.

File Description: This upload is one of the results of my efforts to get AI-glider traffic into FS2004. Included are an AI-version with three textures of the Kranich II for flights from airfield A to airfield B, and another AI-version of the Kranich II, tweaked in a way that it will take off from an airfield, climb while circling and then keeps endlessly circling to a max altitude of around 3000ft ASL in the surrounding of the airfield. Credits go to Wolfgang Piper for his excellent gliders which inspired me to start experimenting with AI-gliders and for giving me permission to rebuild his gliders to AI-versions. For other examples of his excellent gliders, visit his site http://www.fsglider.de
Also credits go to Alan Kaiser for the stemme.air, which I used to make the AI-versions for the Kranich II.
