The main character, Katie Minami (Kaede Minami in the original Japanese versions), is a cheerful and energetic eighth grader who is shy around her male classmates, making it is difficult for her to date. One day, on her way home from school, Katie walks into a mysterious shop and buys a blue cocoa mug. When she arrives at home, she peeks into the bottom of the mug and discovers an engraved note which says, “If you read this message aloud while pouring hot cocoa into the mug, a love fairy (“muglox”) will appear and grant your every wish.” The skeptical but curio
us Katie follows the directions and announces her wish to date Dylan Yuki (Setsu Yuuki in the Japanese versions), her crush. A love fairy named Mirmo (Mirumo) appears. At first she was afraid of him but later understood that he was a muglox. Katie soon finds out that Mirmo prefers eating chocolate and creating mischief over helping Katie.
It turns out Mirmo is prince of the muglox world. Horrified at the prospect of having to marry Rima (Rirumu), his princess bride-to-be, Mirmo escaped the muglox world. Hot on his heels, however, are Rima, Yatch (Yashichi) the bounty hunter, Murumo (Mirmo’s brother), and many other muglox as well.

A cheerful and energetic girl who is Mirumo’s partner. Although she is very sweet and helpful, she can get angry when she is tempted. She has a huge crush on Yuuki Setsu. She is Azumi’s rival and are both fighting over who should be with Yuuki. Her results are not very good and she is a bit slow and clumsy. During season one of the anime, she attended school with Mirumo in his realm, but she is very different in her fairy form compared to the normal citizens of the Muglox World, with fairy wings, a pink fairy outfit that youwould usually see on a doll, and her instrument, a microphone whichwas destroyed at the end of the first season while she was trying tosave Muglox world. In episode 142, she almost died as a shinigami stole her soul for Mirumo’s chocolates.
At the season finale of Mirumo de Pon, Katie struggles to fight for yuuki’s love. Unfortunately, Yuuku made a decision that broke
her heart, by choosing to be with Haruka Morishita. Kaede decided to give up her chance of being with Yuuki but not her feelings for him. Later on, when Yuuki realizes that Kaede is the one he really loves, he decided to confess his feelings to her.
In the final episode of the anime, Kaede loses Mirumo as a replacement for her wish to come true, then finds out that Mirumo never made to the Muglox World and received an extreme punishment. She then tries her best to bring back Mirumo’s memories of him being a muglox, and in the end, she gets
Mirumo back.
In the manga, after she and Yuuki became a couple , another lesbian rival named Ryo Sanada appears.
Setsu Yuuki

A smart and quiet bookworm (an honor student), on whom Kaede and Azumi have crushes and is Rirumu’s partner. Although he is silent, cool, calm and reading most of the time, he’s willing to help his friends, even if it embarrasses him. It is a bit mysterious who he liked first, Kaede or Azumi, since he went out with Kaede in the first season of the anime. He is also afraid to eat green peppers.
In the near end of season four, when Haruka Moroshita, his childhood friend proposes her strong love for him, he begins to gradually get close to her. When Haruka makes her decision to set Yuuki free because she knew that Kaede is the one he really loves, she tells Yuuki that he should do something or else he will lose the person he wants. After his small argument with Rirumu, he went home and he looks like his thinking of something very deep. He then decided to call Kaede and told her to meet him at the park and asks her if she can bring a watch. At the park he tells Katie about how he feels and finally confesses to her. Gladly, Kaede, of course, accepts his proposal.
Azumi Hidaka

A brash and impatient girl who loves Yuki and is rivals with Katie. She
often beats up Katie whenever she sees Katie with Dylan, usually a
funny sneak attack. She can be very vain at times, but helps her friends if she
decides to. She’s partners (or more like partner-in-crimes) with Yatch since
Azumi wants Yuki and hates Katie and Yatch hates Mirumo, Katie’s fairy friend. But most of the time, she leaves Yatch to do her household chores and treats him like a slave, but seems to have a soft spot for him. She also has a younger brother but is rarely seen. At the near end of anime season four, Azumi challenged Katie to know who really is the right one for Dylan. Katie wins at the end of the battle. Azumi accepted her loss but warned Katie and said that “if she starts doing the wrong thing again, she will never let Katie take that chance again.” In the manga, after she broke up with Dylan, she went dating with Sumita and Hirai but failed, and she is the idol of Sasuke and Hanzo. (Called Hidaka in the manga and Japanese anime, Azumi in the English anime.
Kaoru Matsutake

A very rich boy who is popular among girls, but he seemed to hate it. Kaoru’s playful attitude makes him friends with Kaede (the girl of his dreams) and Murumo. He would do anything (with his gigantic fortune, of course} to be Kaede’s boyfriend, but her crush on Yuki blocks that, much to Kaoru’s chagrin. He has his own butler/security guard/caretaker, and relies heavily on him. Although he may not show it, he is a cry baby and spoiled, once when he fell on his rear end, he had an entire set of medical machines and when everyone left, he started bawling, but he can hide it just as fast, like when Kaede enters the room. But he is still spoiled, as showed when he met Kaede and his heart beat increased, his butler then considered bringing in an entire team of doctors. In the season finale, Kyle managed to propose to Katie but Katie answered “sorry” causing him to act and look like an old man (this is his way of showing himself being heartbroken). Katie and Mirmo also concluded that Kyle might still be famous (especially to girls) even in his old days.
Haruka Morishita

A childhood friend of Dylan. Her ambition is to become a manga artist. She is very kind but is even scarier than Azumi when angry蓉sually with a smile that scares other characters (Dylan once says that as a child, his worst fear was Haruka getting angry). In the anime, she is Panta’s human partner and still has feelings for Dylan. This causes Dylan to break up with Katie for a while. When Haruka realizes that Dylan’s true love is Katie, she finally gives up on him. At the end of the series she is dating Koichi Sumita.

A cute muglox who loves chocolate and is playful but at times, selfish and lazy. Although he is Rima’s fiance, he refuses to marry her because he only likes her as a friend, but does not love her. He is Katie’s partner and Yatch’s rival. He uses a pair of maracas as his magic tools. He’s the prince of the Muglox World, and is Murumo’s older brother. As a member of the Royal Family, he can turn humans into fairies for 24 hours. In the final episode of the anime, he tried to convince Katie to meet Dylan so that their wish would come true but Katie disagrees because she will lose him. He then uses his magic to temporarily erase Katie’s memory of Mirmo leaving her when her wish comes true. During his last remaining minutes in the Human World, he decides to find Katie to bid her goodbye but when he sees Katie he is about to disappear and never has the chance to say goodbye. All he does is shout out Katie’s name. He is then punished for not returning to the Muglox World and becomes a rabbit. Katie takes care of him and tries her best to bring Mirmo’s memories of being a Muglox to bring him back to his natural self. His favorite foods are chocolates and Komo-cho. At the end of the manga, he marries Rima and finally loved her.
Rirumu

A pretty female Muglox who loves Mirumo and wants to marry him, much to his disappointment. She is Mirmo’s fiancee, and tries to get along with Mirumo on dates. At times, she may look very cute and innocent, but can turn into a scary fighter when she is angered (mostly by Mirumo). Rima is not really the champion when it comes to magic and household chores, and can make magical situations worse if she “helps.” She cooks food for Mirmo, but instead of Mirmo eating it, he keeps avoiding her because of the food’s appearance and taste (they all look weird and inedible). She uses a tambourine as her magic tool and is Dylan’s partner. Her favorite dessert is cream puffs. She marries Mirmo in the final chapter of the manga.
Yashichi

Like Azumi, Yatch is brash and impatient with his henchmen, Sasuke and Hanzo, he continues to annoy Mirmo to no end due to their long-standing rivalry. Due to his ninja-like weapons and looks, he might be a ninja-type Muglox. Although unfriendly at times, he helps the others when it’s up to him. He was an avid fan of the Warumo Gang and uses a triangle as his magic tool. He’s also pretty fond of looking at people’s underwear and drawing pictures of them (which he consider precious), much to Azumi’s embarrassment. Yatch hates Azumi since she treats him like a slave, but knows that he cannot go on without her. His favorite food is corinthos. In episode 65, the Warumo gang ordered to Yashichi to attack the humans. He did it. In the last few minutes of the episode, all the mugloxes (Anna, Bike, Mambo, Peter, Gabin, Incho, Enma, Mirumo, Rirumu, Murumu, Akumi, and the Warumo gang) were in the rooftop of Kaede’s school, with the humans (Kaede, Setsu, Kaoru, Azumi, and Saori). Yatch appears and told to Warumo gang that he did what they ordered. Mirmo say to Yashichi: “I’m very disappointed with you, Yashichi. I never thought you could attack humans, too.” Azumi cries and says to Yashichi: “You don’t care about me, isn’t it?” Akumi uses her magic and pushes Azumi to the wall. Kaede, immediately,helps Azumi. Yashichi has been very angry with this and allies himself with the good mugloxes, thus like Sasuke and Hanzo. He has left the Warumo gang in order to protect his humam partner, Azumi. She was emmotioned with what Yashichi did for her. Yashichi said to Warumo gang: “Azumi is my partner and I won’t allow you to injure her.” The Warumo gang says to Yashichi that he is expulsed of the gang. With the help of Mirumo, Yashichi defeated the Warumo gang, Akumi and the Fantastic Switcho. His favorite food is Karintoh chocolate.
Murumo

An immature, cute little Muglox who is Mirmo’s younger brother. Murumo loves marshmallows and uses his sweet little face to relax or manipulate others. He is greedy and selfish when it comes to marshmallows, and would do anything to make Kyle give him some (even telling him about Katie and Dylan’s dates). “Deshu” or “mashu” is his common phrase. At times, he is kind and sweet to his friends and is willing to help them when they are in trouble. When he is angry, he uses his antenna beam. He uses a snare drum as his magic tool.
