Terrible organization skills. There was one immigration agent for an HOUR LONG LINE. The immigration agent that checked me into security was talking on her personal cell phone... I mean come on!! My father had to go all the way to the back of the hour long line after the immigration agent forgot to get him the paper work he needed and didn't let him back in the front of the line - power hungry much?

They have a very bad immigration department. There is only one agent, and the line stretches to out of the room! They also failed to get together paperwork that they were supposed to get. The security was talking on the phone while barely checking the information. And also when I went through the security checkpoint, I almost felt like I could've just walked through without even trying to cooperate. It really seemed as if the only people upstairs that cared about their job were the workers at the stores.

This is my hometown airport, so what can I say?
Being in many others this is a small place for the size of this city. It's been increasing in size but at very small steps. Currently at 5am with the 4 gates in use makes it very difficult to find a place to seat.
However it has small convenience stores with local amenities if you are in need of a last minute buy, and coffee shops available at regular hours (even 5am!) The good thing for me is that it connects to 2 of the main airports in US (DFW and HOU), which makes it a great option for one or two connection flights to most places.
Anyway...happy to come and leave from this airport compared to others :)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Jan 4, 2017Previous reviewThis is my hometown airport, so what can I say?

Good news is that they finally decided to make another gate and expand the airport...always catching up rather than plan ahead.

They don't have tons of food or entertainment. In fact, they hardly have anything. So why the high rating? Security and check in will take you all about 20 minutes, if that. It's incredibly easy to navigate, since it's so small. There is absolutely no way to get lost or be late for your flight.
The parking and entrance are also clear of traffic, so no need to worry about drop off or pick up delays.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mar 20, 2016First to Review
I've seen better and I've seen worse. For the most part this is an easy place into and due to poor scheduling not a lot of options out if going to the states.
Whether you fly directly in from USA or through Mexico City they move you through pretty good for custom checks. Typical of the smaller Mexican airports. Many early morning flights out but if the Plane is late the night before you might have delays the next morning because of minimum sleep times for the crews.Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - Erik K.Houston, TX9186Jan 29, 2019
I have to fly in and out of this airport all the damn time and it is beyond the most idiotic ran airport I've been to.
Flying in, flying out, doesn't matter. You'll be subjected to idiots on a power trip thinking they're God's gift to security.
"Hey guys, your plane is ready, let's get you board". No. What it means is "hey, sitting down? Working on your laptop? Well let's end that now and check you in, then make you wait in a single file line for at least 15-20 minutes more before boarding." I was in a freaking boot after foot surgery and had to stand for 28 minutes of hell. Just no freaking reason! Being in group 1 is no blessing here. Just means you'll be standing in line the longest.
There's also of course entry and exit customs which must of been put together by slug on acid.
I hate this airport and the idiots that run it. (not the employees subjected to those idiots procedures)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - R P.Sunnyvale, CA44456609Jul 21, 2018
We ended up flying home from here after a week in Huasteca.
Tiny regional airport. Easy to navigate. Only a few flights a day with smaller planes.
Airport is on the outskirts of town.
Air conditioned, great bathrooms (for mexico), security and immigration (One security person and the one immigration person working there)
We had a American Airlines flight. Check in was easy, they spoke English.
Once through security there are like two gates. Common area with a snack bar (they have beer~) a duty free shop and a typical airport store with snacks, books, water.
Funnest thing was the rental car return. Turns out National has a 'spot' by departures that you park in. Walk into the airport, tell the person your car is out side. They tell you to come back in 10 mins, they go out and check the car, come back and finish the paper work.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Trebor S.Chicago, IL0318Aug 11, 2018
The airport seems to be in a state of remodeling , very easy to get around. Can't wait until the remodeling is done, it shall be a soft for sore eyes from what I can tell.
Also from what I've read there is gonna be an expansion and a one way trip to this location some time soon.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - A G.League City, TX04042Jun 5, 2017
If you are unfamiliar with what real pesos look like DO NOT EXCHANGE YOUR MONEY AT THIS AIRPORT. There are plenty of banks that are willing to do so in the city. My husband and I thought the airport would be the safest/fastest/most convenient way to get pesos but the currency exchange booth in the airport gave us half of our $300 in fake bills. When we went back to claim our money be returned, the lady that runs the booth just kept saying there is nothing that she could do and refused to own the fact that she gave us fake currency. Super shady. We did not come into the country with any pesos though and did not go anywhere else to exchange currency so there is no question that the lady at the booth pocketed our money. No shame, no morals, no business ethics, I hope this yelp helps someone else in the future.
