Women's Health Institute - Hoag Imaging Center - Costa Mesa

Most expensive place ever to get x-rays. They wanted $710.55 for 3 chest x-rays and I was given a discount to $461.86. My own insurance says the x-rays should cost $141.83 (not covered since I haven't met my deductible for the year).
I checked around the Newport/Huntington Beach area and the average price for the same x-rays is $133.00.
DO NOT COME HERE FOR X-RAYS!!!
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

Hoag charged my insurance over $800.00 for an X-ray. WTF? Ended up costing me almost $450.00.
An X-ray that was inconclusive.
Really needed an MRI so bad on my Dr for screwing up. You can't see a soft tissue tear with an X-ray.
Found another imaging center who will do the MRI for $500.00 (not through insurance) and Hoag wants $1100.00, out off pocket, billed through my insurance!
Scan Scam.

I was greeted promptly upon my arrival. I was early for my appointment, but waited only a minute or so before I was shown into the X-ray room. The whole procedure took less than five minutes, and i was on my way out the door before my actual appointment time!
The X-ray technician was courteous, friendly and efficient.
I was impressed by the whole operation there.

Don't come here even your doctor refer you to have an X-ray or MRI. It's crazily expensive even with insurance and within the network. It costs both my husband and my son had to pay approximately $500 for a simple Xray which costs only $80 at the orthopedic surgeon. Lucky, the third time we found another imaging center in Santa Ana which costs only $279. See the bill images below.

Please do not go here. This is a scam of a doctors' office and I will be warning everyone to stay away as much as possible. Went in here for a covid test since I'd been struggling to breathe but kept getting negative covid tests. We discussed the possibility of me having asthma and the doctor suggested a chest X-ray. They told me my insurance should cover it and that it should be cheap if not. I got billed for over 200$ months later which I paid. I just now received a second bill for $445.28 months and months later. Guy on the phone was rude and snooty when I was reasonably upset over the surprise billing. Guess so won't be able to afford my wedding dress now so that's lovely. Next time I can't breathe I'll just stay home.

The only thing I can say based on my own personal experience is "check your wallet before you go in this place and then check it again when you leave and make sure you didn't get robbed while you were inside".
I went there for a simple chest x-ray. I provided my insurance information upfront and asked for an approximate cost and they said that they wouldn't know until after they process the paperwork. I expected the normal price from my insurance website of around $50 or a high of $100.
They build my insurance company almost $600. Imagine, $600 for a 2 minute x-ray (does not even include the cost of the company that reads the x-ray to write a report).
Regardless of what my insurance paid, the fact remains that these people charge $600 for a simple chest x-ray. Stay away from this place!!!

The customer service at this location is unacceptable. They do not know how to prioritize and treat patients. I would not come here if my leg was falling off.

I'm usually not the one to write negative reviews, but I'm writing this on behalf of future patients to forewarn them on what to expect. I'm saddened to say I was very disappointed in the lack of bedside manner and professionalism by the front desk receptionist in the Imaging Department. She was visibly overwhelmed and projected her frantic nature onto the patients checking in. Not only did I observe her rude mannerisms to other patients including myself, but she gossiped with other coworkers about how annoyed and frustrated she was due to the amount of people checking in "all at once". It isn't fair to the patients who already have nerves about getting medical imaging to then deal with an employee of Hoag who is dismissive, insensitive, unprofessional and clearly unfit for handling a position at the hospital. Upon checking in (without a greeting), she said name and insurance. I told her my insurance was in the system and she had responded immediately(without looking) that it was not. It was, because I was a rehabilitation patient for 2 and a half weeks at Hoag, recovering from a near-death car accident that put me in a wheelchair. Understand that you are working in a HEALTH CARE ENVIRONMENT and you need to be trained as such. You are working with people who have suffered to some degree and you should be sympathetic and accommodating in making their experience as stress free as possible, not adding stress and anxiety to an already tense situation. I do not recommend going here.

I recently came here while I had a small gap in my day at work for an Xray. Lately with my experience with doctor offices I have been turned off by how unhappy these miserable receptionist and medical staff are. Makes you wonder how do those around them put up with them. But, here everyone was nice had a smile asked please and said thank you. Most importantly they were professional.

I was shocked at how in and out I was. If you need a xray come here. Just check with your insurance first!
