Mesa West Pet Hospital

This hospital has saved the life of two of my cats. First, I had a senior tortie who had lost over 7lbs (half her weight) due to stomatitis in her mouth. All other hospitals gave me prices for tooth removal at $7-10k and that just is not possible for most average people. Dr Lepera did it for $1200 and did all follow-up appointments for free.

Today, I took in my youngest cat. She was the only one of my six not yet fixed, and despite her super young age (less than a year, indoor only), she developed pyometra, which is a uterine infection usually found in older unfixed cats, not usually ones as young as my kitten. Pyometra is fatal if not treated in time. They got me in at 930am (I called at 8:20am) and they took my kitten in for surgery by 1pm. The surgery went well, and they told me it was good I brought her in because my kitten would have died within days! They have saved two of my cats from critical, life-threatening conditions for around $3k COMBINED. Thats half the price I was quoted for ONE and it included multiple different tests, diagnostics, and medications.

The staff is friendly and compassionate and knowledgable. They are transparent about what they will be charging you, and they don't push things beyond ensuring they are clear about why they are making the recommendations they are making.

This place will do their best to protect your pet. They aren't God, they can't save every animal that comes in, but if they can't, it won't be from negligence, lack of competency, or lack of compassion. No matter what your pet needs, you can rest assured that if its possible to treat, they will treat at the best price available locally. You won't find another vet with more compassion or accessibility.

I first took my dog Peter to Mesa West in Nov 2020 and she was diagnosed with heart disease. Dr. Lepera and her staff took amazing care of her for the past 2.5 years and I'm so thankful for their kindness when she passed on June 19, 2023. Dr. Lepera was so sympathetic as Peter's condition declined and I really appreciate her honesty in regards to Peter's condition and how she encouraged me to weigh the cost/stress on Peter in her final hours. Because of Dr. Lepera's honesty, Peter was able to spend her final moments at home in peace in my arms rather than at an emergency hospital.

I'll definitely continue to bring my cat Keanu here!

My brother recommended Mesa West and we love Dr.Lapera and her staff. I witness how well they treated my brothers dog. They are always caring, honest and conscientious with our dog Charlie. We travel from Riverside to see her because we couldn't find a doctor and staff that were as caring and thorough in our area.

Wow! By far the best Vet I've been to! The girls upfront are so sweet and the friendliest!! They took care of my baby so well and took me same day appointment without waiting. They are affordable and care for your little one. Definitely my go to place for any problems! Thanks guys again

this place sounded great. I called and asked the doc to call me. its been three weeks?? was advised doc in surgery and would call back. no call back
receptionist was new but stated she would have doc call me- I do this in anticipation that i may need to deal with vet later. still waiting

5 stars! I usually only leave reviews for restaurants but I really want this place to do well because they really care about you and your pet. We've been taking our dog Brownie to Mesa West Pet Hospital for 11 years and even though we now live up in LA, we drive down the 1.5hr for all check-ups, operations, etc. We can really trust the people that work there, on top of showing genuine care about your pet, they are always fair and open regarding costs.

AMAZING- Everything and Everyone at this smaller veterinary hospital are polite, professional, and proficient ! I am so glad to have found Mesa West Pet Hospital ! The Vet is extremely knowledgeable, and she is marvellous! She ALWAYS performs a detailed exam. This vet NEVER over charges us. Another point to post is after the vet exams your pet, she bring in the suggested treatment plan- and prices are listed next to all procedure and/or medication(s). And until you authorize, they won't "take your dog to the treatment area" until you've signed off. But I REALLY APPRECIATE SEEING THE PRICES PRIOR TO SIGNING OFF FOR TREATMENT/MEDICATIONS.
*They are not open on weekends--The notice of their hours of operation are posted at Entrance, and at check-in. However, they do recommend that any Emergencies should be taken to a 24/7 Veterinary Hospital that they themselves recommended. The 24/7 Emergency Vet Information is on their voicemail and information is also provided at the check-in desk. My puppy is now seven! And he's healthy and happy! A big part of his happy and healthy life is Mesa West Pet Hospital. Great care at reasonable rates... It doesn't get much better than this amazing WOMAN-OWNED Veterinary Hospital. I recommend anyone in need of general veterinary care to go to MESA WEST PET HOSPITAL. !!!

I wanted my pup to have the best care and I'm so happy I found Mesa West! I was staying in the OC area for a bit so I was looking for vets around there but I moved back to the IE and I still drive an hour to come here. That's how comfortable & satisfied I feel about this place. All of the staff I came across are super friendly and helpful. They have amazing energy and provide great information. Thank you for taking care of my Hokkaido! Highly recommend this place :-)

Dr Lapera was born to be a pet doc, and she's pretty darn good with people too. I tear up remembering how sensitive and attentive she was, yet utterly pro and no-nonsense, guiding me through the hard facts and ultimate decision to let my beloved pet go in 2019.

After some awful experiences with gouging cold corporate-run vets, I was thrilled to find a down to earth place like this where my pet could pass with dignity in the hands of a doctor of so much class and compassion.

I want all the very best for Dr Lapera and her little business. There's a lot of God under that roof, let me tell you.

Took my dog to this place because she was throwing up and having seizures..they kept trying to push an MRI and other tests and refused to give her fluids even though my dog literally needed fluids because she stopped eating for weeks.

All they seemed more interested in was racking up the bills to charge for this and that...

After I came home and gave her the medication they gave me for her...she went downhill within a day. We had to put her down 2 days later

They also charged me extra for 3 different tests and they never even sent me the 2 other test results even after I called for them.

It's too late now since had to put my dog down

This place is horrible
