The largest man-made lake in South-east Asia. It is interesting place and great houseboat experience!. We booked Chendana Houseboat for 3D2N. It can fix maximum 30 persons. Don't expect too much yahhh, it is basic accomodation, with 'okay' bathroom (4) and huge dorm(4), no air conditioning, no hot water baths. It also has fully equipped kitchen except for the raw ingredients for cooking, washing machine too. But not all time we can use since the electricity through generator. So it only comes on time at schedule. This houseboat complete with karoake set too. Our group trip was mainly for fishing. The houseboat park at sg cacing. They provide 2- 3 speed boat to take us go for fishing and other water acitivities such as swimming, water rafting.

My mom and I spent an entire day exploring Tasik Kenyir and I'm very much lost for words on describing how beautiful Tasik Kenyir is, it is just breathtaking and absolutely stunning. We felt very much at peace during our visit here and had such a good time.
This would definitely be heaven for nature lovers. Tasik Kenyir is a man made lake which is located in the Kuala Terengganu which is the north east of Malaysia. Tasik Kenyir is home to numerous species of freshwater fishes and exotic wildlife, with a water catchment area of 38,000 hectares, the lake is naturally a haven for freshwater fish. You'll be surrounded by nothing else except but greens, fresh clean air, the sounds of birds, crickets and even monkeys. Bliss nothing else but bliss.
If you're a fan of fishing, you'll want to come to Kenyir to do so. There are boats for hire for a day or even for a night. I would recommend renting the houseboat and staying out for at least a night. I was told that at night is most beautiful and the only light you'll see will be the stars, i can only imagine how beautiful that would be... this definitely will be on my bucket list.
Me and mom were taken out on a private boat and visited a couple places such as fish feeding at the Kelah Sanctuary (mahsee fish) and the Elephant Sanctuary. We had to cut out a few other places because it rained heavily on us but that did not stop us from having an amazing time. I mean when else could we have enjoyed playing in the rain. It was so much fun, riding in the boat with the rain pouring too, felt like a real adventure.
However before the rain we managed to feast our eyes on how beautiful Kenyir is (although it was very beautiful whilst it rained too), we saw hornbills flying, humongous lizards, pretty flowers and unusual looking trees. So refreshing to what we would see on a daily basis. I sometimes wish that, i could just explore nature every day of my life.
Feeding the Mahsee fishes was a lot of fun, we were a little nervous at first, but got the hang of it after a while. We screamed of joy...also because having the fishes eat from your palms, was very ticklish. The girls who looked after us on the trip persuaded us to take a dip with the fishes..we hesitated for a bit but then we thought why not ey? I mean you only live once so lets make the most out of it. Glad we did.
The Elephant Sanctuary is located around the area of Sungai Ketiar which is located near the jetty of Tasik Kenyir. I fell in love with sanctuary and have vowed to myself to come here as often as possible whenever i'm back in Kuala Terengganu. It is probably one of the best Elephant Sanctuaries ive been to in Asia.
This Elephant Sanctuary only started its operation May of last year and it is slowly picking up popularity. Although they still have a lot more work to do i still think that it is a lovely place. The elephant show was okay, still in a work in progress but i still enjoyed myself very much. The elephants were so cute, i wish i could take one home with me!
I would definitely recommend Tasik Kenyir to anyone who wishes to get away from the hustle and bustle.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
