16 Jul – Malaysian actress Maya Karin is excited to be filming her first Hollywood movie, titled "Alone".

In the movie, she will be working with "Teen Wolf" star Tyler Posey as well as Canadian veteran actor Donald Sutherland, though they will not be appearing in the same scene.

The "Jwanita" actress is working with a professional production crew under the direction of Johnny Martin, who also serves as the movie's producer.

Maya said that she was fortunate to have a Hollywood Innovation Group (HIG) executive offer her the chance to audition.

"Even though it's just one scene, being in this new situation, surrounded by a professional crew and getting to exchange ideas with everyone here including the "Alone" director, it's inspiring.

"Their trust in me is a good start for me to continue pursuing a Hollywood career. This whole week, I've been introduced to several other producers and directors," said the actress, as quoted by BH Online.

Filming on the movie has begun at Illuminate Studios on Venture Blvd. Maya will be portraying Dr. Zulaikha, a scientist from Malaysia.

The 39-year-old actress has been in Los Angeles since last week, where she has also had the chance to tour Hollywood and take a photo at the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

She stated that her involvement in the movie "Alone" can be seen as an initiative to introduce Malaysia as a world class travel destination.

"I was told that next year HIG will be working with this production on a martial arts-based action movie, which will be screened in America.

"I'm like a small ambassador. Because some of the producers I've met have asked about our country. All because several international movies have previously used Malaysia as a setting," she said.

Maya will also be involved in the filming of a travelogue aside from several other works in America before heading back to Malaysia.
