That's Thailand for you! our adventures at the Elephant nature park and in Chiang Rai

The amazing Elephant nature park, an elephant sanctuary for old/disabled elephants. In the right pic, this poor elephant was hurt by a land mine in Cambodia
We learnt from our 2 days there that riding elephants is painful for them and that circus/logging work hurts them: don't support this! (see Apolline's blog in French)
Watching elephants frolick in the river…
eat…
and get a mud/dust bath!
There are worse places to do homework!
The amount of food for the elephants is impressive: a whole load of pumpkin on the left! Veggies/fruits must be washed to remove pesticides
then food is cut up and put in baskets by volunteers (there are volunteering programs for one week or more). We also help to prepare some sort of 'energy balls' for the elephants
It's been a privilege to get that close to those amazing creatures
And now on to the breathtaking white temple in Chiang Rai, designed by a local artist: Chalermchai Kositpipat. It is a work in progress and should take 80 years to complete (an Asian Sagrada familia…)
Hundreds of outreaching hands that symbolise unrestrained desire
The blue temple is very beautiful as well!
We finish the day with a private hot spring bath… living like the locals! on the right, the Chiang Rai clock tower, also designed by the White Temple mastermind
We are in the Golden triangle! very interesting Hall of opium…A really well done museum focusing on Opium trade
Border with Myanmar and Laos
