Thursday’s International Meetings

International Meetings
MEET & BUILD 2023 got off to a great start on Thursday 26 October with the international meetings!

Around thirty associations, schools, public organisations and studios presented their activities on this first day dedicated to the Belgian video games industry. We were also honoured to welcome France as our guest of honour, with the presence of the French Ambassador in Belgium, François Sénémaud, and our Secretary of State for Digitalisation, Mathieu Michel.

The programme in Room 3 includes presentations by associations, schools and public organisations:

  • Collectif BOUFTANG: La Réunion regional cluster & Call collaboration
  • Capital Games: Ile-de-France regional cluster & Game Connection / Paris Game Week
  • SNJV: Activities of the national video games union and market studies
  • Wallimage : Results of the Walloon public fund 2022 – 2023 & investments in Wallonia
  • VAF : Flemish public fund: strategy and prospects & Gametrack
  • The Ukrainian video game industry: Ukrainian market situation and prospects & Opportunities for collaboration
  • Abragames (Brazil): Brazilian market situation and outlook & opportunities for collaboration & BIG Festival
  • Bitsummit (Japan): Situation and outlook for the independent games market in Japan & Opportunities for collaboration & Bitsummit
  • Piktura (Pôle 3D): Higher education school based in the Hauts de France offering courses in game development and game design.
  • ARTFX: One of the top 10 creative schools in the world – based in the Hauts de France region – offering courses in game art, programming and game design.
  • CNAM-ENJMIN: French graduate school of video games and interactive media.
  • HEAJ: Haute École Albert Jacquard
  • HEPL: Haute École de la Province de Liège
  • Round table with representatives of French and Belgian organisations: CNC, Business France Belgique, Business France Paris, Wallimage & WALGA-Belgian Games

Room 4 hosted a pitch session for Belgian and international studios, as well as a presentation of the Tax Shelter by the FPS Finance, the Creative Europe Media programme and the WALGA General Assembly. The studios that presented their projects and/or services:

From Thursday to Friday, participants met up at the Brasserie du Quai10 for meetings via the Brella app. We counted a total of 232 meetings!

The day ended with enthusiasm and appetite at the opening reception at the Brasserie, hosted by the French Embassy in Belgium.
