Flemingo opens duty free stores at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport

PARAGUAY. Flemingo International has opened Departures and Arrivals duty free stores at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport in Asuncion.

The four-year concession, which was awarded earlier this year, includes core categories such as liquor, perfumes, cosmetics, confectionery, tobacco, plus fashion accessories.

Flemingo hopes to capitalise on anticipated passenger growth of +17% in 2014

The new stores, which follow a similar design and layout as Flemingo’s Brazil stores, claim to boast an inviting atmosphere, with strong signage and clear walk ways, creating an easy to shop environment. The stores feature clear routes through to the back walls, designed to bring customers into the heart of each zone.

The passenger profile at Silvio Pettirossi International is mainly business travellers and regional passengers from Uruguay, Brazil, and Argentina, as well as travellers from the USA, Panama and Spain.

In 2013, the airport served 1.2 million international passengers and predicts passenger growth of around +17% for 2014.

Flemingo Group Chief Operating Officer Simon Forde commented: “Flemingo is delighted to open our first store in Silvio Pettirossi Airport in Paraguay. This further extends our footprint in Latin America, a key strategic focus for the group. I would like to thank Pablo Lesme, Country Manager and his team for such a great job in opening the shops, and wish them much success in the future.”

A spokesperson from Dirección Nacional de Aeronáutica Civil [DINAC] said: “We welcome Flemingo at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport and are glad to be associated with a world-class company with operations in major international airports across the world.”

Flemingo said that the Latin America and Caribbean region is key to the company’s growth, adding that there is opportunity to expand in the food & beverage sector as well as duty free.
