Finalizing your profile

To apply for funding offered by the Young Canada Works (YCW) program, you’ll need to sign up for an account on the YCW website, run by the Government of Canada. This short guide is designed to help you set up your account for the first time.

For technical assistance submitting your application, please see this related document: Submitting a funding application. For assistance creating the content of your application, please see this video tutorial.

Step 1: Sign-up

Click here to access the Young Canada Works website: https://young-canada-works.canada.ca

Click on the “Sign-up” button to the right-hand side of the page. You’ll be asked to enter your email address, a password, and your role in the program, either candidiate or employer. Choose “employer,” this allows you to apply for funding.

Tip: Carefully consider the email account that you want associated with the account — especially if multiple people will access it on behalf of your organization.

Once you’ve entered all your information and clicked the “Sign up” button, check your email. The website will send you a confirmation email. Click on the confirmation link. Once you’ve verified your account, you can log into your account and add crucial information to your profile (Step 2).

Note: Confirm your account immediately. The link provided in the confirmation email will expire within 24 hours. Should you miss this window, you’ll have to contact your program officer, who will need to ask the Young Canada Works Secretariat to re-send the confirmation link.

Step 2: Complete your profile

The first time you log in, the first thing you will see is your dashboard.

Underneath the banners about the time limit and which year you are in, you’ll see “My Profile”. Before you can submit an application, you need to fill in all four sections of your profile: Organization information, contact information, privacy notification, and review and submit.

The information you enter in your profile sections will be attached to all the applications you create, so make sure you take the time to enter your organization’s info as accurately as possible.

Note: At the bottom of every section you’ll see three buttons:

Progress saved Progress saved Makes sure all your data is saved. Use this button frequently.
Validate Checks your form to see if anything was entered incorrectly. Use at the end of each section, before moving on.
Next Takes you to the next section.

You need to fill in all four pages before the website will accept your information. To navigate between sections, use the ‘My profile’ menu at the top of the page.

Organization information

The Organization information section will ask for the following information: Legal name of the organization, operating name (if different), mission and mandate of the organization, the type of organization (private, public, or non-profit), the year founded, your status as a registered charitable organization and your federal business number.

If you are unsure about how to fill out any of these sections, contact your YCW program officer.

Contact information

The contact information will ask you for basic information about your organization that will be used by your delivery organization to contact you. This information will not be published when posting positions to the candidate portion of the site.

Note: Your mailing address is where you would like to receive important correspondence like contracts or cheques.
