Porter Airlines Launches Nonstop Flights To Toronto At Tampa Airport

The jets offer 132 economy seats in a two-by-two configuration, meaning no middle seats, and free beer and wine.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa International Airport’s newest option for its growing service to and from Canada started this week, with daily nonstop flights between Tampa Bay and Toronto launching aboard Porter Airlines.

The Canadian carrier’s first scheduled service arrived from Toronto Pearson International Airport on Wednesday evening and departed from TPA on Thursday morning. TPA and Porter celebrated the occasion by welcoming guests aboard Wednesday’s full incoming flight and kicking off Thursday’s departure with cake and giveaways for passengers at the gate.

This is the first time Toronto-based Porter has flown to TPA since the airline launched in 2006. Porter’s goal is to offer superior hospitality and elevated onboard service for its travelers.

This daily nonstop route between TPA and Toronto also marks the first time the airline’s new, fuel-efficient Embraer E195-E2 has flown any commercial route to the United States. The jets offer 132 economy seats in a two-by-two configuration, meaning no middle seats, plus free wifi and free beer and wine, served in real glassware. The airline also offers premium snacks and food options.

“Tampa International Airport is proud to be the first U.S. airport to welcome Porter Airlines as it launches new nonstop service to and from Toronto,” TPA CEO Joe Lopano said. “The elevated economy experience Porter offers is sure to be a hit with our Canadian travelers, who love to visit Tampa Bay and enjoy everything the region has to offer. We also look forward to introducing Porter’s outstanding product to our local Tampa Bay travelers for their journeys to Canada.”

Porter is the third airline currently making the roundtrip to Toronto, which is a vital market for Tampa Bay.

“Canadians represent the largest group of international travelers to Florida, and now they can choose to fly with the only airline that emphasizes style, care and charm in every aspect of the flight experience,” Porter Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Kevin Jackson said. “With Porter, your vacation begins as soon as you step inside the aircraft.”
