Mystic Falls, Virginia – the home of everlasting friendships.

While they’re shooting the final season of The Vampire Diaries, Kat Graham, 26, has a BFF in costar Ian Somerhalder‘s wife, Nikki Reed.

“Nikki is amazing, and we are very, very close,” she gushed to PEOPLE at the Teen Choice Awards 2016 in Inglewood, CA. “You can thank all of my ear piercings, you can thank her. She didn’t pierce them, but she’s got like crazy ear game, and it’s really cute when best friends take inspiration from each other.”

Graham was quick to share what makes Somerhalder, 37, and Reed, 28, a “perfect match.”

“Why I think they’re so perfect is because of their philanthropy,” she explained of the couple who tied the knot in April 2015. “They have the same values when it comes to people, how you treat people, how you treat animals, how you treat the world, the environment.”

“I mean, they’re really perfect together,” Graham added. “I’m like, thank God you guys found each other because I don’t know what you would do without each other. They’re perfect.”

At Comic-Con, The Vampire Diaries announced the show would be ending after the upcoming eighth season. Graham, who’s been part of the show since the pilot admitted that the ending will be “bittersweet” for her and her castmates, but she is happy to have this season to properly end storylines and she thinks fans feel the same way.

“I feel like they’re going to be ready for this show to come to a close to wrap up storylines more than they would have been in season six,” she said. “At least I know my fans are ready to see some final and new developments.”

“I hope for the biggest and most incredible ending, and all the people that were in the beginning to end the show together. That’s my goal.”

Dobrev left the show in 2015 after her six-season contract was up.

Graham went on to add that, “I love everyone and I want everyone to be happy and feel great about all the work that we’ve put in for the past eight years.”
