    In 2014, as part of the Reliability Services Section target of each individual team member contributing one new safety improvement project per year, I achieved mine through the conceptualization, design, planning and execution of Handrails for concrete footing into/out of the flotation bund.

  • Fixed Plant Oil Analysis Management - Barrick Porgera

    There are five stages in this project:
    1. Identifying the equipments' need for oil analysis
    2. Creating SOP and identifying analysis parameters
    3. Setting up analysis parameters in conjunction with Shell
    4. Implementing SOP and Reviewing Parameters
    5. Continuous Review.

    At this point in time, we are currently in 3rd and 4th stages of this project. Its ongoing and continuously improving.

    In 2013, the Tailings Discharge Pipeline at Barrick Gold’s Porgera Gold Mine was being pulled and torn apart by an eroding mass of earth that was part of the haul road to the erodible dumpsite. This would have shut the mine down for an indefinite period of time. I was part of the team tasked with running 2 new 600 mm poly-pipe (HDPE) line for approximately 2 km without having to shut the plant down. This work encompassed design of new system (flows, settling velocities etc), welding of…

    In 2013, the Tailings Discharge Pipeline at Barrick Gold’s Porgera Gold Mine was being pulled and torn apart by an eroding mass of earth that was part of the haul road to the erodible dumpsite. This would have shut the mine down for an indefinite period of time. I was part of the team tasked with running 2 new 600 mm poly-pipe (HDPE) line for approximately 2 km without having to shut the plant down. This work encompassed design of new system (flows, settling velocities etc), welding of poly-pipe, transporting of the pipes with cranes and forklifts, digging of trenches with appropriate slopes, laying of culverts, aligning of pipes (esp at the elbows) commissioning and running of new lines whilst maintaining the current failing lines in under 10 weeks.

  • Developed ANAWE Mill Downtime Database Analysis Template and initiated use for improved Plant Reliability

    In 2012, my colleague Albert Warkia and I developed Anawe Mill Downtime Database Analysis template to identify areas in dire need of improvement and for ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement. The results of its successful implementation have been documented by Barrick Gold’s Asset Management Division and Barrick’s Porgera Gold Mine.
