A great variety for bird watchers, you will even get some fruit yourself (hopefully!). These trees were originally planted to attract birds away from a farmer’s main crops. Like most Mulberries, plant in a bright and sunny location.

Latin Name: Morus nigra ‘Early Bird’
Site and Soil: Well-drained soil; adaptable to various soil types, but prefers loamy, slightly acidic to neutral pH soil; full sun to partial shade.
Bearing age: Will produce fruit right away.
Rootstock: Propagated from cuttings.
Size at Maturity: Typically grows to a height of 15-20 feet with a similar spread.
Bloom time: Early spring.
Pollination Requirement: Self-pollinating.
Ripening Time: Early to mid-summer.
Yield: High, with abundant fruit production.
