remarks Public airport located 5 km north of Charleroi city and 44 km south of Brussels. Airport is owned by the Wallonia regional government. It is home of the SONACA (Société Nationale de Construction Aérospatiale SA) aircraft manufactured which built among others licensed F-16 fighters here. Its predecessor Avions Fairey was also based at the airport. Airport is since 1997 used by Ryanair as an alternative to Brussels.
