Principal international gateway and largest airport of Finland. Airport is located near city of Vantaa 17 km north of Helsinki central business district. Airport replaced Helsinki Malmi as principal airport of Helsinki when it was finished just in time for 1952 summer Olympics. In 2000 airport handled over 10 million passengers within a year for the first time. This number had risen to nearly 16 million by 2014. |
