The British High Commission in Sierra Leone has expressed total commitment to work hard and greatly support the government of Sierra Leone to maintain the peace and stability of the country at all times.

Lisa Chesney, the British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, maintained that they have rolled out structural meetings with the Government of Sierra Leone and the opposition in relation to maintaining the peace of the country and all representatives fully agreed to uphold the peace and protect the lives and properties of everyone in the country.

She maintained that the country needs both parties to put into effect their commitments made in the peace dialogue for the good of the country, adding that the United Kingdom is ready to work with and support the Government of Sierra Leone and all stakeholders in making sure that this is achieved.

“In meetings with Government & Opposition, all agreed that violence to undermine a State is never justified. Now, more than ever, commitments made in the peace dialogue must be implemented, to benefit all of Sierra Leoneans. United Kingdom is ready to work with & support GoSL & all stakeholders in this.” she wrote.

The British High Commission’s commitment to peace and stability in Sierra Leone is an important part of the UK’s wider strategy for supporting good governance and democracy in Africa. The UK is a long-standing partner of Sierra Leone and has provided significant support to the country in recent years.
