2024 Abstracts

Thank you for your interest in the original clinical and scientific abstracts to be presented during the 2024 ACNM Annual Meeting, February 1-3, 2024 in Orlando, FL. The abstract submission deadline has passed. Submitted abstracts are currently under review and notifications will be made starting on November 14, 2023.

Abstract Awards

The ACNM is pleased to offer several abstract awards this year:

  • NEW The Dr. Tapan K. Chaudhuri award for best abstract involving breast cancer research award.
  • NEW The best abstract on Clinical Oncology PET presented by a MD of a country member of the ALASBIMN (Latino -American-Society of Biology and Nuclear Medicine: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela.
  • NEW Dr. Hussain Abdel Dayem grant for Best Clinical or Best Basic Science Abstract.
  • Younis-Bashir Award for the best presentation from Pakistan (oral or poster) at the ACNM Annual Meeting
  • Ralph Blumhardt Award
  • The Ursula Mary Kocemba-Slosky, PhD, Awards for the best ACNM Nuclear Medicine Research Abstracts
  • ACNM Annual Meeting Best Abstract Award (non-resident/trainees).

To apply for the above grants, you must have submitted an abstract to the ACNM Annual Meeting and selected which of the awards you would like to apply for during the abstract submission process.

Tapan K. Chaudhuri Award

The Dr. Tapan K. Chaudhuri award for best abstract involving breast cancer research for accepted for presentation at each annual meeting.  This award is to be given in memory of Dr Chaudhuri’s two sisters (Prof. Tandra R. Chaudhuri, Ph.D., a scientist who devoted her life to the research involving Molecular Imaging of Cancer, and Mrs. Tamasa R. Mallik, BA, a Homemaker) who died of breast cancer.

  • Eligibility Criteria: Abstracts involving breast cancer research (oral or poster) submitted to the annual ACNM meeting.
  • Award winner to be selected by the scientific committee of the ACNM annual meeting.

Award Value: USD 500

ALASBIMN Clinical Oncology PET Award

The best abstract on Clinical Oncology PET presented by a MD of a country member of the ALASBIMN (Latino -American-Society of Biology and Nuclear Medicine: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela) in memory of Dr. Alexander Gottschalk.

  • Eligibility Criteria: Abstracts involving clinical oncology PET (oral or poster) submitted to the annual ACNM meeting.
  • Award winner to be selected by the scientific committee of the ACNM annual meeting.

Award Value: USD 500

Younis-Bashir Award

The Younis-Bashir Award has been introduced by Dr. Mohammad Numair Younis and Dr. Humayun Bashir for the best presentation from Pakistan (oral or poster) at the ACNM Annual Meeting. The objective of this award is to encourage the Nuclear Medicine fraternity in Pakistan to reach out and share their clinical and research work in the international arena.

Younis and Bashir are contemporary physicians from Pakistan who started their careers in Nuclear Medicine together at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) in Lahore, Pakistan. Younis has spent the past 20 years in the public sector at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Oncology Lahore (INMOL) - the flagship medical center of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission. Bashir has been associated with SKMCH&RC for the better part of his medical career, as a resident, consultant, and Head of the Nuclear Medicine Department, and is currently based in the United Kingdom.

  • Eligibility Criteria: Abstracts originating from Pakistan (oral or poster)
  • The award winner will receive $250 USD.

Ralph Blumhardt Award

  • ACNM will select up to four best abstracts submitted by a resident training in a developing nation.
  • Each winner will receive $250 and a certificate.
  • If the lead OR presenting author is a resident training in a developing nation, you may check the box during the abstract submission process to be considered for the Ralph Blumhardt Award. Only residents are eligible for these awards.
  • A supporting letter from a program director must also be submitted.

The Ursula Mary Kocemba-Slosky, PhD, Awards for the Best ACNM Nuclear Medicine Research Abstracts

  • ACNM will select the best abstract submitted by a resident or trainee to receive a $1,000 prize.
  • The second and third place winners will also receive monetary awards of $500 each, as well.
  • If the lead OR presenting author is a resident or trainee, you may check the box during the abstract submission process to be considered for one of the Ursula Mary Kocemba-Slosky, PhD, Awards for the Best ACNM Nuclear Medicine Research Abstracts. Only residents and/or trainees are eligible for these awards.
  • A supporting letter from program director or supervisor must also be submitted.

The ACNM would like to thank Dr. Jack Slosky and the Education and Research Foundation for Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (ERF) for sponsoring these awards.

The ACNM Annual Meeting Awards

  • ACNM will select the top two best abstracts from non-residents or trainees.
  • Each winner will receive $500 and a certificate.
  • If the lead OR presenting author is NOT a resident or trainee, you may check the box for this award during the abstract submission process. Only non resident and/or trainee are eligible for these awards.
